  1. Amen, Karla! I enjoyed reading these wonderful quotes on living life fully. Also, your family photo collection exudes much happiness!
What inspires me the most is knowing that you’ve lived (and continue to live) in the spirit of these quotes and scriptures every day.
🙏God’s richest blessings to you and yours in the new year!

    1. Hello, David! Thank you, dear friend! I chose “24” quotes and/or verses that speak to me. I LOVE words–so how do I choose? It tickles me you enjoyed them. I spent hours going through my pictures in the last two days to choose ONE each MONTH to make a book on another platform. I was so happy reflecting, looking, choosing…and thinking of how God has been SO good to restore so much. And how he’s given me grit and determination to continue to keep the faith; even when I was at my lowest. He wants me to do my best and he’ll do the rest. He does EXPECT me to do some things ;-). I want to keep living as if each day is the last. And find the joy in the little things. On tough days, I can ruminate on the richness of the full life I’m living.
I hope you and your precious family are enjoying your well-deserved time off (no rest for the weary!). God’s blessings to you and yours, too, my friend. Happy New Year and thank you for supporting me with prayers and friendship! 🙏

    1. Hello my friend ❤️ thank you for this sweet and thoughtful message!

It doesn’t surprise me you love quotes!
God bless you and your precious family ! I look forward to seeing all your doing with the kids this year (they’re growing so fast!).
      It’s inspiring! ❤️🙏🏻🥰

  2. What a treasury of quotes, Karla! So good to hear your voice of joy and hope in endurance. Much love to you and much blessing in 2024 as we look to our Savior and King for every provision. 🙏✨♥️

    1. Hello, Dora~I’m so happy you enjoyed them!

You are so kind and thoughtful to take the time to pray for, and encourage, me! Truly, I look to the only source of strength that has sustained me~our Savior. He expects me to do my part~he’s bringing me through it~he deserves it!

Much love and prayers for you and yours. I do pray you are all well. ✝️💕🤗

  3. I was overjoyed to see your email notification today Karla! You are such a light in the world today! As I was browsing through these quotes I smiled knowing you selected each and every one for us to ponder and enjoy. I especially love the one by you, “If we were perfect, we wouldn’t need a Savior.” As always, I’m sending you my heartfelt prayers and love. Happy 2024! Hugs, C

    1. C!! I’m smiling and feeling you wrapping me in hugs as I hug back.
I’ve been terrible at getting to your place; and so many others. And here you are, giving me such love and encouragement!
Your encouragement and feedback are amazingly inspiring and helpful. How kind you liked my quote, too!
C,…what is your big goal for this year? Are you two off on a grand adventure, sailing the world, or biking in new places? I can’t wait to read and watch!
Mucho love and prayers to you~here’s to a new year filled with so much love and joy, ❤️💛💚🥰🙏🏻🤗💕

Karla, what a wonderful New Year’s gift to get a post from you today! I swear, you are the original Bionic Woman!

I love seeing all these great snapshots. What a story they tell.

I pray 2024 sees you making great strides in your recovery process, so great it knocks your doctors socks off! 🤗 Sweet Miss Finley must be overjoyed to be able to cuddle up with you again.

That’s quite a collection of quotes. I especially like your quote.

Keep on keeping on Karla. No one does that better than you my friend. Your family must be so proud of you! I know this journey isn’t over, but what you and your medical team and your Faith have accomplished is mind-boggling. Take a bow and soak up all the applause.

Have the happiest new year ever Karla. Hugs and kisses to you and Sweet Miss Finn. Ginger 💞

    1. Wow. 🥰
Ginger,…you know how to butter my biscuit! I get giddy reading your responses!
Thank you doesn’t seem an appropriate response for my gratitude~🥰

I’m keeping on. The irony, Ginger, is that just 3 days ago I had to have help because I reacted to the contrast dye for the scan and became violently ill~and oh, the incision. I go from tears to joy, joy to tears of pain at times. I’m figuring out digestion and working on a post! It’s a perfect pairing. It’s important that I take advantage of every good hour I have (not overdo it, but not “underdo” it lol).😂

I lifted myself out of some dark times~we all have them~and they reappear at times. But for faith! I’ve decided that putting on music, writing, and some days, like several I had in a row,…I do nothing but rest🙏🏻.

My bionic skills come from bouts of “oil” from the #1 annointer~and a big swift dose of counting my blessings. 🥰🙏🏻

I think my dr wants me eating more beans and cast iron cornbread like I made today~but he knows it’s going to take a while and we need to figure some things out to keep me going!

It won’t be long I’ll be going back to Maryland and seeing my surgeon too.
For every 7 days, I have about 3 that are “tough” ~that makes for more good days!

Now,…I’ll keep trying to build strength so watch out, Ginger. In about 6 months no telling what I’ll be doing. Tee hee. 🤭

Finley told me to write, “How did Ms. Ginger know I’m in your lap in my sweater all cuddled up?” I told her she just knows you. Our friend, MAK, is even having a new sweater made for Finley so she’ll really be styling soon.

It tickles me you love my posts~and little ol’ us.
Thank you for saying such sweet things (and about my quote).
I pray 2024 brings YOU wonderful health and happiness.
Hugs, love, and kisses to you too! Much love and prayers ❤️🐾🙏🏻

  5. Karla, you shared a wonderful selection of photos and quotes. You inspire readers and are an example of living well. God will go before you, beside you, and behind you in 2024. No better place to be than in His perfect presence.

    1. How kind, Manette. 💛
I’m so happy you find my words and life inspiring!
I was a mess for some time!

That’s the wonderful thing about choosing God.
He takes our mess, if we give our life to him, and uses it for his glory.

I fail miserably without him. His will is the only way~MY will led to hurt and distress.
I’d rather have Jesus than anything.
Falling flat on my faith was the best fall of my life, so I’ll walk next to HIM forever. I know you do, too. I wish and pray everyone could feel this love and know this truth. I see God in everything now. It makes things beautiful and bearable seeing it through a lens of love.
God bless you this year ~and each day!❤️✝️🙏🏻 I appreciate your prayers and support.

  6. Karla, thank you for sharing these beautiful smiling faces with us! As your caregivers & faithful friends I can see in their compassionate eyes & tender faces, why it is you love them so much. I am so grateful you have them to share LIFE with! Hugs dear friend.

    1. Dawn! It’s so good to see you, sweet sister. I’ve missed you so much.
You can see why I love them~how precious and insightful ~they are amazing ❤️
Life! I’m so happy to be here and experiencing it. I want to live as “full” as possible ~faithful, hopeful, and grateful! Much love , Dawn. I do pray you are all well. Your support and friendship mean so much! ♥️🙏🏻

  7. Happy New Year, sweet friend! I love the verses and how God’s Word speaks to our hearts when we are in the valley or on the mountaintop! He is our peace and comfort! This is my favorite quote:
“If we were perfect, we wouldn’t need a Savior. It’s not about perfection-it’s pressing for progression and surrendering to self. When the world can’t satisfy, our Savior can saturate—filling voids and bringing value to the valleys and peace at the peak.”

The family photos are beautiful! I am spending this first day of 2024 with my sweet Daddy🙏🏻

    Love and prayers ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

    1. Pam, thank you so much, my dear and sweet friend. 💛
I tried to comment on your blog (it is SO beautiful ~the compilations of the year’s flowers and arrangements~my 4 favorites ~anniversary and the holidays!). You bring such beauty to our world.
I’ve been praying for your sweet Daddy today. I can hear you all singing too.
Thank you for sharing my quote as your favorite.
      That touches my heart ❤️🥹.
HE speaks at all times and I always want to be listening!

And he hears us…our prayers and requests. Our praise and gratitude!

Happy New Year to you and Butch! There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for you both!

Much love and continued prayers for the wonderful men in your life ❤️🙏🏻

  8. what a cheery . eclectic collection of quotes, my favourite is the Laura Ingalls Wilder one; Karla, you brighten my day; happiness and healing for ’24.John 🙂

    1. Hello, John! Yay, you’re here! The Bible verses are my foundation. My favorite quote is hers, too!
It’s my tagline in my Gmail account. Thank you for your sweet words and friendship! I hate our current health situations; but so happy we’re in it together. I’m glad to bring brightness! May healing give us more hope! 🙏🏻💛

      1. I’m blown away , John! Amazed! I believe that’s why I’m here! I wish I could’ve been there. Yes, healing is already taken place~for us both!💛🙏🏻

  9. Beautiful! Thank you for helping start my year with some truly exemplary wisdom. And it is good to see you there in the photos surrounded by people who love you. I don’t know if you always feel like it, but you are a beacon of light and strength for those lucky souls who receive your blog. Blessings to you and yours for 2024. 1. Russell, thank you for this wonderful, kind, and thoughtful response! It gave me tears 😭. I can’t always imagine that I’d be a source of strength ~but I’ll sure keep sharing about how my life was completely turned upside right! By the one true light!
I’m so tickled you enjoyed the photos, too. I’m surrounded by goodness, Russell. I have the most amazing family and friends~such as you! I’m lucky and blessed too!
Many blessings to you both and your entire family! Thank you for your prayers and support!

  10. What others have said in your post, beautiful words from the love they have found. What you have said…love and courage in finding those words truthfully through your path kind lady, and it has taken you deeply. Thank you for sharing that love my friend. And as you so beautifully put in your post from Rumi…“The wound is a place where the Light enters you.”…and you are indeed a very delightful light kind lady, thank you for sharing it.
Plus, how can I follow Ginger? Beautiful words, heartfelt words, and gracefully said…so I say…’what she said’ 🤣
Glad to hear your voice Karla. I know it is still a big journey and you have much love and light from over here for it as well. Big hugs and may this year be with His love and courage too 😀❤️🙏

    1. It’s so good to hear your voice, Mark! I think I’m one behind again on email.
You and Ginger share the gift of words and affirmations! and love!
I knew you’d love the Rumi quote~it made me think of your journey and site.
We have a shared understanding of wounds, love, trauma, healing,…I’m still playing catch up with your wisdom, though. 😉
Everyone here in this community has such a unique and inspiring story. I love everyone and how they’ve added to my life~you are included in “everyone” dear friend 🥰😁🤗
I’ll keep the courage~even when I feel I’ve lost it worse than the cowardly lion. I’ll take heart, for I know the source of my strength, courage, and love! So do you! I know you do! You’re further along in the year~how is it so far? Please wave at the elephants in the bay for me! Finn sends her love too! Thank you for being here and encouraging me. Your prayers are being heard too!❤️🙏🏻💛🐾

      1. No such thing as behind Karla, I hear your voice when it is needed. I too the student in what you share, as is all our unique journey’s. And I was just out talking to the mom and baby elephant, their trunks and tails swishing in a lovely coastal breeze on a beautiful 28C day. I am suffering so over here Karla haha 🤣
And never a cowardly lion dear lady, I dare anyone to go through as you have, a path that cannot but test you in so many ways. It takes a long time to be in a place where we truly face ourselves. And I’m not just talking of those relationships that we touch and test those parts of us to see where our love is…but the one where there is nothing else to face but us, and see that faith, hope and love that lives truly deep within us. It is confronting, but it is there that He is closest and guiding us in His love. Hang in there my friend, each and every step is guiding your heart truly.
And my year is going well, I have very, very slowly reduced my medicine so I don’t have a reaction to it, and intermittently I have had my sense of smell back…for the first time in over 7 years I was able to smell something…a lovely lavender oil, it was a blessing and indeed to me a gift from God. It is like all I say, we must experience somethings opposite or lack to truly appreciate it when we finally arrive in its understanding. It was the best Christmas gift ever, whoohoo! ❤️
Much love and big hugs to you and Finn, and thank you both for sharing a powerful journey 😀❤️🙏

      2. Mark, I’m thrilled you have your smell back! And lavender to smell, to boot! The best!
I’m SO proud of you! I’ve weaned myself off of pain meds only needing 1/2 of one if it gets severe. I realize that other anti inflammatory OTC things aren’t the best, either. But I’m gaining such ground in managing pain. I know you understand this.
Your words ooze with wisdom, enlightenment, and love!
I long to “see” the views you see. But the best part is I can see them through your eyes!
And you see everything with love and gratitude ~a win-win!
Thank you for your kind words and support about my journey. It’s not easy! A situation today knocked out energy and halted plans. I’ve learned that my plans may not be what God has planned. I’m learning to rage it in stride~smile, accept it, and find joy in all things.
Lessons learned and more the next hour I’m sure! lol 😂
“we must experience something’s opposite or lack to truly appreciate it when we finally arrive in it’s understanding.” Yes, yes! This is exactly how I feel. When I “lost” it all, I found what mattered. When I fell (several times), I fell flat on faith. I’ll keep learning, growing, and appreciating what matters.
I’m so happy the elephants are safe! 🥰☺️😉 and so happy you have the beauty around you~you deserve it!
Much much love! Finn sends it too!♥️❤️💛🙏🏻🥰🙌🏻✝️ 🐘

      3. It is a powerful journey Karla, ever opening us to that love. It takes you beyond what this world shows, this one side, so that we will touch that beauty beyond it and totally be in awe of what is there waiting for us. And oh yes, there are moments we are so tested in so much pain, be it physical or emotional. But that journey is the making of us. I hear your beauty kind lady, and you are doing well.
Personally I’ll never forget my position, in the middle of a divorce, anxiety, anger and so many other emotions. So not being very religious at all I asked God where was there any sanity in all this we go through…so He showed me. I didn’t understand in the beginning but Spirit ‘nudged’ me in looking at myself until I understood this incredible journey that is here. Silently walking hand in hand with us each step we take. We all do it in our own way and I was blessed with having that guidance after each fall so I could understand. And because I began to open in that understanding I was shown things to pass on here…and in the book that I am supposed to be writing too I think 🤣 But almost everything is already here on my blog…but…like life it never ceases. Always finding more amazing things within it in each of those experiences, good or bad. They all teach us ‘us’ and that love we slowly open to.
Anyway, big hugs to you and Finn, and I’ll say hello to the elephants for you both. I hope you both have a great day 🤣

      4. Mark, I hope MANY people are reading your comments about life, love, faith,…everything! We have similar backgrounds; I think I’ve shared.
And yes, how about that book? Lol
You’re a blessing and a wealth of wisdom! I’m so glad we’ve been “made” by our journeys and our amazing Creator doesn’t make junk! Just a reminder 😉
Finn and I feel the hugs and love and send them back to you, the beautiful country in which you live, all the little “elephants”, dolphins, and heck…the entire globe! Have a great day (or are you headed to sleep? I need to see what time it is in Australia! Lol 😂
        💛❤️❤️

      5. Currently lunch time now. Been for my morning walk, talked to the elephants…but alas no dolphins for a few weeks because of the mad summer holidays here. Thousands in the lake swimming, boats, ski’s, you name it, so the dolphins stay out to sea I think, way too crazy in here with those noisy humans 🤣 Have a great day/night and lots of healing energy coming over. And yes, much contemplation of the book so we can all touch that love within us. Take care you and Finn, and be free 🤣❤️🙏

  11. What a beautiful post for the new year! I love all of your memory photos from 2023. So glad you are feeling strong enough to post on your blog. I love all of your quotes. So much wisdom in each one. Hang in there… you’re not done yet! PTL

    1. Thank you so much, Dwight! I appreciate your never waiving support and prayers. It means so much to me. It took me many hours to do this~I have to adjust my time based on physical strength. I’m so proud when I’m able to do it~it makes it that much more joyful because of the time I’m investing ~and even more grateful for who invests in me. How humbling! Happy New Year! Many many blessings! ❤️ I’m not done yet…that’s right, Dwight. Love that!

    1. Gary, each morning I pray over my journal and when my energy can, I say names several times.
You, your daughter, wife, and family are there.
I’ve been thinking of your song, music, your beautiful photos, and the amazing wilderness adventure you live out for Christ and his glory. I’m thankful for you and your family. Your kind words, prayers, and support have lifted me during tough times.
It’s so good to see you and I’m praying for all that’s ahead during challenging surgeries. As well as peace and safety during the winter. I “see” the amazing nature pictures and hear the words you use to describe the beauty you see in it all!
God bless you and your entire family! 🙏🏻

  12. Such a heart touching lines and most beautiful photos of happy moments of life , the Best 🌹🙏🥰✍️💐

Your words always touch my heart and inspire me.
May God’s blessings rain on you and yours~and yes, I’ll keep the willpower and faith!
Stay safe and blessed, my friend ❤️♥️💛🙏🏻🙌🏻🎶✝️

  14. Karla I was so happy to see this post pop up in my reader!! As for the quotes, C. S. Lewis had so many profound things to say about faith and love. The answer to your questions are all the same -Love of God and love of mankind! I love you and will be going to the Rosary Society meeting tomorrow. They continue to pray (as do I) and I’m certain God had heard us all!!

    1. Val, I appreciate you. Will you please give those ladies huge hugs (I SEE them~literally!). You’ve been such a prayer warrior and support! No doubt the prayers have left our lips straight to God’s ears. I’m here! 💛

Your humor has helped me many times, too!
Your faith walk and life journey inspires me!
I’m thrilled you enjoyed the post. It’s good to be here! And to have your support!❤️🙏🏻🙌🏻

  15. You inspire me with the power of your words, Karla, and a wonderful selection of quotes! I feel the John Muir when I step barefoot in the grass and look up at the moon. I’ve used the Maya Angelou in job interviews. May you have abundantly more peace, love, and joy in 2024! One day at a time! Sending good vibes and a big hug to you and prayers up for your needs along with miracles! 💖

    1. This is such a beautiful and thoughtful response, sweet Crystal. Do you know how your journey has inspired me? And to think that I inspire you…it’s humbling. I’m so glad you enjoyed that quote. I think of it every time I’m outside. Now, I picture you barefoot looking at the moon. I’ve taken so many pics of the moon; and I’ll stand barefoot (when weather allows 😉 and think of you. May peace, good health, joy, and love flood you this year! Love and hugs, my friend. Thank you for being here and supporting me. I keep you in my heart and prayers. ❤️

    1. Hi, big brother! I appreciate you much. Thank you for your prayers, support, and friendship. You’re such a great encouragement to me! I wish the same for you, too!

    1. You made my heart and soul smile. Just seeing you! It means so much you’re “here”! “With our father the best journey ever is just begging.” So beautiful! 💛Hugs and love to you both! 💕🙏🏻

  16. Blessings Karla. I treasure this post because it shares light from so many voices. As this year continues to unwrap, may all of us be willing to trust God with each step. His light will always lead.

    1. What a thoughtful wonderful response, Richard. Our world is filled with such amazing voices and wisdom. And if we choose, we can step into the best light and love provided.
My roller coaster of recovery has proven to be much better with his guidance and direction! May we all feel that.
Thank you for your kindness and support! It means so much to me. Many blessings!
