Heavenly Home

Today isn’t just about the trees and trails for me. I’ll always be in awe of this Earth and its miracles. The changing of the seasons-the brisk coolness to warmth, leafless branches to colorful fullness, and buds to blooms. In the Ozarks, just add more stones! But much BIGGER than my neck of the woods…

…the earth took on a whole new view for the crew of the Artemis II mission!

The amazing Artemis II Crew didn’t just see a planet; they saw a masterpiece that screams the presence of a Creator!

Divine Design

It’s my nature to want to BE in nature. My nature changed for the better when I made the decision to surrender to the Creator of our nature. Home CAN be heavenly if we choose to look outside the walls of our price-tagged stick and brick homes. Do we still live in AWE surrounded by man-made stuff?

I don’t want to WAIT for the future for the best when we have the choice to create heavenly homes NOW.

Have you experienced nature in a way that leaves you awestruck?

Let’s take care of our home–and even better, let’s take care of one another! That’s HEAVENLY!

This nighttime picture of Earth was taken on April 2, 2026, by an Artemis II crew member aiming a camera through a window of the Orion spacecraft. The image was captured after Orion completed its translunar injection burn, the critical maneuver that sent the spacecraft on its path toward the Moon and back It’s divine delight to views these photos in the link above!

Have faith, my friends. 💚

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”

More from Flannel with Faith

I’m in awe of those facing challenges with faith. From cancer to chronic disease, celebrations to sappy moments, and joys to juggling daily tasks.

Each day brings the unexpected. Try as we might to create our OWN schedules, I’ve learned through surrendering to Christ, each day is filled exactly with what HE desires.

When we live by an hourly schedule–whether with work outside of home or in, hobbies, or tasks, it’s easy to think that we have control. We TRUST the things that man does and makes–from a rocket to a car, sitting in a chair to the technology we use. We live to expect that each day will go according to our plans.

What if we lived on this Earth ONLY putting the Creator’s desires first? How might our lives look? How might the lives of those around us change?

I’m quick to remember that all the things that go “ring” and “ding” won’t last. If it costs me my peace and abiding in Christ, it’s too expensive. If it’s a distraction of the divine and just a people-pleasing project, it won’t produce the right “fruit”.

May we remember that below the tree of life flows the living waters. I’m so thankful to hike, walk, float, and explore this Earth with all of you. This world can be even more heavenly if we would lift one another in prayer and blessings. Remember that YOU are a miracle. YOU are loved. 💚

Worldly Welcome

My head was still in the clouds when the plane landed in D.C. With an achy body and God-given gumption, I moved at a determined snail’s pace to find a taxi to Bethesda. Four times at Reagan Airport–ANOTHER kind and gracious driver! He shared about saying good-bye to his wife and kids in Kenya two days earlier. The gleam in his eyes and smile on his face, despite the absence from his loved ones, lifted my spirit. His sunny disposition lit the night sky. “Humans make things hard,” he said. With a bit of renewed energy, I thanked him for his kindness and positivity. He replied, “Never worry. God has it all.”

The next day a dear childhood friend, Kerry, met me for the early shuttle to the NIH/NCI. The day was filled with scans, bloodwork, and visits with the specialists. Worldly welcomes! A spectacular fellow in research from Puerto Rico, the gracious travel coordinator from India, a lovely lab tech from Israel, and a courageous cancer patient from Canada. All of us meeting in this amazing global facility filled with caring researchers, specialists, doctors, and many other dedicated servants. Miracles in the making!

Scanxiety? I’ve lost track of the number of scans. Through the buzz, whirls, and clonks of all the machines, I hear Dad singing, “Welcome to my world.”  Yes, this is my world. I’m so thankful.

My head might still be in the clouds a bit. There’s new medicine, another scan, and appointment this week. From a worldly welcome in D.C. to the cheers of the Missouri folks as our rocking plane (two hours of turbulence!) landed in the Ozark Plateau.

Can you imagine our world if everyone was so welcoming?

Friends, your support means so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my updates and articles. I know how much you have going on in your worlds! I received news that my pancreas and liver are stable! There’s bone and lymph node progression. The bone marrow could be overactive. My spine MRI was… icky. I’ll leave that there! For those that have back pain, I empathize and feel for you, too. My energy level has not been what it was–but I keep my expectations reasonable and my hopes high. I’ll have another MRI on Wednesday and an oncology appointment on Thursday. I’m expecting great things! I look forward to catching up to hear how things are in in your world. I’m so glad we’re on this journey together. You are always so welcoming! God bless you and keep you all. You are loved. ❣️

Tranquil Transitions

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6

Tranquil-treaties, transfers, and trade. Transitions. Inauguration, instrumental intercessions, and international interest. Recently I joined approximately 600 women from around the globe. Our posture and position on prayer was powerful. Prayers of relief (for our friends in California & other disasters), prayers to move mountains, and prayers of warfare. Meditative prayers and prayers of silence. Can we tread through transitions with tranquility, transparency, and trust? God didn’t suggest I keep the faith or not worry–he commanded it. Tranquil transitions.

Have faith💚
