“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”-Laura Ingalls Wilder
Pigtails and a hat made me feel like…me. Reflect on your style. We all have our own. There was a time I had my “career hair”. Although the color changed at times, the style stayed the same. On weekends, I couldn’t wait to throw on hiking boots, put my hair in pigtails, wear flannel or a t-shirt, and just be…me.
A new color was revealed when my hair started falling out. My twin and B.I.L. took turns with the clippers to reveal the solid white. Since that early day in July there have been times I avoided a mirror. My reflection seemed strange to me.
“I don’t see me!” I exclaimed. “But I do,” Kristy replied.
“For now, we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13: 12
Reflection on hair–it’s not the pigtails that makes me…me!
Speaking of pigtails many of you know I’m a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder. She happened to wear pigtails as a young girl, too. 😉 After being homebound for quite some time, my twin and a lifetime friend took me to Mansfield to visit Laura and Almanzo’s home. Click here for a post I wrote in 2020 to learn even more of their lives!
“These times are too progressive. Everything has changed too fast. Railroads and telegraphs and kerosene and coal stoves — they’re good to have but the trouble is, folks get to depend on ’em.”-Laura Ingalls Wilder

Rocky Ridge, their 40 acre farm bought for $400.00 in 1894, became their place of hard work, family, faith, and peace.

Glass cases protect the historical treasures in the fascinating museum. My reflections were unavoidable when taking pictures. Rather than be upset, I giggled. Reflecting on Laura and Almanzo’s lives, it amazed me at all they accomplished (and didn’t NEED). Their amazing home didn’t have one treadmill, microwave, or internet router.😊 I crave the simplicity and honor the priorities the couple had in life. Seeing my cracked reflection in the ancient mirrors made me smile. “Did Laura see herself as a young girl with pigtails at 89?” (* Laura died 3 days before her 90th birthday on February 10th, 1957*). Knowing how important her faith was, undoubtedly she, and others, saw Christ in her reflection!
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you SEE what God sees? Do you know how precious you are in HIS SIGHT?
As the Holy Spirit continues to work in and through my life, it’s the reflection of Christ I pray others see. When the veil is lifted and you experience KNOWING HIM as HE KNOWS you, a reflection of HIM is all that YOU WILL SEE.

Have faith, my friends. Don’t lose hope. You are loved. 🤍💚

MORE REFLECTIONS …

***I’d like to give a shout-out to the ScootNGo company for their amazing new lightweight & foldable mobility scooter. I met a designer by phone who shared about how the creator of this, her name is Angela, has traveled to 30 states and is currently overseas sharing this! They are a small company that designed eBikes originally and decided to create scooters. I can’t lift much, so I was happy at this size. I’ll give up more cushion and baskets for smaller footprint. The two lithium batteries will provide 15 miles of scootering fun. It’s given me a huge part of my life back. Also, in reviewing ways to haul, I decided on a smaller carrier vs. a large cargo rack and ramp. This works for now! Finley loves Skeeter, the scooter, too!***

Have you heard of NET, yet? If you or a loved one is fighting NET cancer, I encourage you to visit the Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation. Don’t lose hope! 🤍🦓

You are beautiful inside and out, my friend! 🩷 Praying for you. Much love.
That’s so precious to say 🩷 thank you, dear friend. I love you, Kelley. 🩷
How nice that must have been to visit the museum. I love the photos. Glad you have a scooter so you can get around and make trouble for everyone. How many people have you run over with it, so far? Do you keep track by inscribing notches on the side?
I love the Bible quote, by the way. I think it says a lot, even to those like me who don’t take much stock in the Bible. We may have part of this whole life mystery thing figured out, but one day we may know fully. That will be an interesting day.
Tippy, it’s always good to “see” you!
The museum they have now is still fairly new~ it’s exciting to see families there. 3 cuties with pigtails really loved my scooter. Fortunately I have not hit anyone! It’s not a zero like the bigger ones at the stores, so I’ll have to watch it on corners! Hopefully the scooter will stay notch free lol! 😂
I love the mystery of life. In this world where many want ti know the why, when, and how, I embrace the not knowing and look forward to that one day!!
I hope you’re doing well!
I appreciate you!
If you haven’t hit anyone yet, then you’re not trying hard enough. Come on, Karla, I’m counting on you.
Yes, I like the mystery, too. It has an edge of scary-fun to it.
Uh….🙄 hmmm. 🤔 what about a frog named Freddie. Can we count that?
Sure, as long as he croaked.
Ok…apparently he died in the woods already,
Very interesting. I’m ribbeted to this story.
Haha!
Tippy, you’re unfrogettable !
Then I must have jump-started your memory.
I had to get off my lily pad eventually!
Or that’s what I was toad 🐸
Yuck-yuck.
😂
Ooh girl! They sucked you into the pun world!
I’ve missed our family pun times! 💚😂
😄
Nooo! LOL!
I was waiting for you, C.
*as I sing Return to Pooh Corner” by Kenny Loggins. Remember, Freddie was already …gone,💚 🐸
Haha!
Great song!
And you don’t know maybe Petrie was able to get him because he had been knocked out by your scooter. LOL!
Oh no! Lol 😂
Poor Freddie! 😂😂
It will definitely be an interesting, glorious day! 😉
Yesss!! ♥️🩷
Love the reflections Karla. Glad you have the scooter…friends and family to hobnob with. Your faith is bigger than you so it’s really reflecting the one who is bigger than all of us…
Thank you, Gary. Your family grasps and displays those traits that reflect everything good in life~ and our amazing God for sure! I can’t imagine life without faith. Those moments that seemed to try and swallow my soul still failed. And I know why!
God bless you and your precious family. I love you all dearly.
A great post Karla. Reflections in the mirror can be deceiving! Your beautiful spirit is reflected through every post. That is the real you! The shell will go… you will be around for a long time! :>)
That is a great little scooter. Looks very efficient!
Dwight, I’ve missed you! Thank you, dear friend for your precious words.
Something I’ve loved about the blogging community is the ” realness”! It’s so refreshing to read and see.
You’re the real deal, Uncle Dwight!
The scooter is very efficient . I thought it would be a great thing to share for others that might be having mobility issues.
I pray you are all well. God bless you!
Thank you my friend, I greatly appreciate our connection here on the blog. You kind words always inspire me as well. Hang in there!!
You’re welcome ☺️! Dwight, we will keep on keepin’ on!
Girl, I love Kristy’s reply to you!
You are beautiful, and your heart is still shining bright!!! Love you, dear 🧡 friend and your continued zest to find things to be grateful for. 💛
Love that you got to go see Laura and Almanzo’s house. So cool! I of course love the quotes as well for you know I am all about LHOP too!
I am reading Melissa Gilbert’s book now about her life after 50 and its so cool for like Laurs she loves nature and the simpleness of life. She and her husband said goodbye to Hollywood and the pressure to keep looking young! She realized she was damaging her body. Now, she has her natural gray hair and raises chickens. 🙂
Thank you, dear C!! You’re so kind and gracious! I want to shine as bright as you!! 🥰 ✨
You’d love their house, C! Kristy and I saw some of the cast from LHOP last year as they celebrated their 50th anniversary since they began filming. I have followed Melissa Gilbert, too. Many years ago I saw the Little House musical performance and Melissa played Ma!
I love her lifestyle and views on life! I get it and desire the same! Have you seen her clothing line?
Of course I had to wear my bonnet when I visited! 🥰♥️💚🩷 love you, C!!
You are so welcome!! 💛 🤗
Yes, I love Melissa’s views too, and that would have been fun to have seen the musical. I love that you wore your bonnet! 😊
No, I haven’t seen her clothing line. Will have to look it up.
♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the sharing. I’m glad your family took you to the museum of a treasured writer. How fun to have the scooter and the freedom it provides. May you continue to have more meaniful adventures.
love, katelon
Thank you, Katelon! It definitely provides more freedom. I’m so thankful for friends and family like you.
Many blessings and much love. Take care.
Karla, my Dear Sister in Christ, you are a true Warrior of Faith. Even in the midst of this battle, your strength, grace, and love for the Lord shine so brightly. I pray you always feel the warmth of His arms around you and the assurance that You Are Dearly Loved, by Him, by me, and by so many whose lives you touch.
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for Karla. Please continue to pour Your strength into her each day. Wrap her in Your peace, ease her pain, and fill her spirit with unshakable hope. Let her feel Your presence so close that fear and doubt have no place. Remind her she is Your precious daughter, held safely in Your hands.
In Jesus Name,
Amen …
Willie, my dear brother in Christ, your prayer touched my heart. Your words are always so encouraging and uplifting! HE is answering prayers!
Willie, I think of all you’ve endured in life, and still do. Yet, your faith shines brightly and through the pain! I have a suspicion that you feel as me on this: that these trials and pain have been gifts. Crazy, but true. I feel that I can embrace the beauty of life because of how our Creator has always been there through it all. Lives can change suddenly. I’ve often wondered what it took to fully see and experience the complete indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We know.
We are to forsake everything and pick up our crosses to follow him.
I’ll follow him as you do. If it means losing everything or even crawling, I’ll not stop.
Without him, what is life? With him, I have all I need!
“God, I thank you for Willie and his precious soul. For his family and those he impacts through being a reflection of YOU.
You know his needs and his health. And you know his heart. ♥️ thank you Father for this faithful man, his wonderful wife, and his ministry. ”
You are loved, brother! Keep on keepin’ on. ❤️🙏
Karla, your words truly touched my heart and brought me to tears. I am so thankful to have met you and to build a friendship so strong and beautiful. I continue to pray that God brings you the strength you need and the healing that only His loving touch can bring.
It is unfortunate but yet fortunate that we need to be broken in order to see, feel, and know God’s true love for us. We have to find ourselves at the brink of being lost in order to be found, blind in order to see. And though some or many still will not open their hearts to surrender, you and I have done just that. Although we continue to struggle and continue to feel the pain and sorrow, we also get to rejoice knowing that our wonderful, loving God will not forsake us. This is not punishment or temptation, it is a test of faith. We are being delivered, and the real test is how we choose to share our testimony.
I am forever grateful to you and cannot wait to hear your testimony of God’s amazing mercy and grace in your life. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” And as the song says, “Through it all, my eyes are on You, and it is well with me.”
You Are Loved.
God Bless You, today and always… (Forever in His Grip)
Willie, your words echo my testimony ~ but written so beautifully and eloquently.
To be broken and find God’s love…blind to sight…surrendering to win!
Yes, brother, the pain is no punishment but a gift that brings an intimacy with Christ that I NEVER would’ve known otherwise. Everything is a miracle!!
Your testimony moves me to tears too! You’re a blessing to me and so many! I’m grateful for you and your precious wife!
The verse you shared is highlighted in my Bible. Amen 🙏
God bless you and keep you and yours, dear Willie. You are so loved! I’m so thankful for you!💚🙏
Thank you so much for your kind and loving words. They truly touched my heart. Like you, I have known pain and continue to walk through it, but I hold on to Jesus with everything I have. Your faith and your testimony speak deeply to me, because I know what it is to suffer for Christ and still believe He is good.
The pain is real. The pain is much. But the reward is worth it. And even now, in the middle of it, we get to know Him in a way we never could without the suffering. That alone is a gift and something that very few understand and can appreciated and Praise Him for.
I thank God for you, for your strength, and for the hope you carry. We’re standing together with you my Dear Friend and Sister, trusting that one day all of this will be behind us. No more pain, no more sorrow, no more tears, just Him.
You are a Blessing to me and to so many others. May His peace hold you, and may His light keep shining through you, even on the hardest days.
Much love and many prayers for you and yours.
You Are Loved…
wonderful thoughts and pics, Karla: we watched ‘Little House …’ with our kids as they grew up; it helped to bind us as a family; I’m a HUGE fan:)
John, that thrills my soul!! How neat you’re a huge fan too! Thank you for your kind words, my friend.
if they put it on again I’d watch it — but it wouldn’t be the same without the kids there too —-
I understand. Finley and I watch it daily, John.
wow !! I like that. Lucky Fin 🙂
Aww. We’d love to watch it with you!! 🥰
I see the light of Jesus in your face, and your hair gives you some sass, definite panache. Skeeter, the scooter, and a trip to Rocky Ridge—just YAY!!! Meanwhile, I pray for the other parts behind the scenes and always for miracles. Skeeter, that’s a miracle! ❤️
Thank you, precious friend! You are so kind! Ah, sass and panache. It’s definitely “cooler” 🥰.
I’m most happy you see
the light of Jesus! Thank you for your prayers behind the scenes. I love you and send prayers to you! ♥️❤️🙏
Karla this is a wonderful post – Laura Ingalls Wilder was a favorite growing up. I haven’t visited Rocky Ridge – yet. I’m glad you’re up to the visit. I especially like your mobility scooter – Have you named it? Also loved the photos and the smiles too! Big hugs to you and Finley! 🤗🤗🐾🙏🏻🤗💓
Thank you, Val! It was always a dream to visit every place she lived growing up!
It would be a lot of fun to go in a covered wagon (some would be groaning at this lol)!
I hope you get to visit there sometime (and you’d be close to me and I have an extra bedroom~ just FYI 🥰😂).
I named the scooter, Skeeter! It’s a good Skeeter, unlike the summer skeeters that try to get me! Finn and I send our love and hugs to you and Mochi! Thank you for your support and prayers, always. 🥰♥️🩷 🐾 🙏
I love it! Skeeter the Scooter! I hope you and Skeeter have some really fun adventures! Mochi is snoring next to me – she and Sparky went on a nearly hour long walk just at sundown. She got several treats and lots of exercise! She and I send greetings! I’ll keep your offer in mind – we are going to be traveling to Canada soon and after that it is cruise time!
I’m so happy for you and Sparky to have those vacations coming up! Yay! Hello, Mochi!! Finley says hello, too!
Hi Karla! Mochi says hello back and is complaining that because she rolled in something stinky she is slated for a bath tomorrow morning!!
Oh, Mochi! Finn is in dire need too! Take care, dear Val!!! hugs for you and the warriors tonight!
Thanks Karla! The prayers continue unabated! Mochi smells sweet – now! And she was happy to get a cool bath after being taken on a long walk in the heat!
You’re welcome! YAY!! Finn has been getting some “sap” on her paws outside? It’s a mess! I had to use olive and coconut oil…then sat her teeny body in the sink. Use my Castille soap to try and wash the rest of it off. She’s got 3 little “greasier” paws–but less sappy (I’m the sappiest of us anyway!).
Sap is the worst! (at least on paws!) I hope the sappy stuff stops being a problem… Fortunately we don’t have any of those type of trees or shrubs. Nice that Finn is sink size!! 🐾💖
You are one special soul. Always a testimony of love shining in a dark world. You light up so many hearts. Your posts are always happy because you portray happiness. You are so easy to love my sweet Karla.
One day I will hug you for a long, long time! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Aw, Mama Wenda, so are YOU! THANK YOU! You’d love my sister too. She is so filled with light and fun. I’m so happy you enjoy my posts! Sometimes I worry that I’m negative when I talk of my cancer and issues; so I’m careful that I share the GOOD stuff too. Because…there is ALWAYS good, even in the bad times.
I can’t wait for that LOOONNGGGGGGG HUG! I love you! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❣️❣️❣️🙏🏼🙏🏼🥰🥰🎶🎶🎶🎶
I can only imagine how wonderful 2 Karlas would be. You are so blessed to have her. I do not think negative is in your soul at all! You just cannot go Home before me that is out of the question. I’m the old lady here! Okay? I get to see Jesus first. I’ve been here long enough. I’m ready! 😁🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 But I will hug Jesus first ! lol!
This made me giggle, Mama Wenda! Awwww ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰😂
I love Laura Ingalls Wilder! You shared some of my favorite quotes. How fun to visit a museum about her. I think you look beautiful as others have stated. I think the buzz cut looks chic on you with your glasses. And your hair will grow back if you don’t want to keep it short.
I have a condition called strabismus which has affected my eyes since I was born. I only see out of one eye at a time and whichever eye isn’t engaged turns inward. So essentially “lazy eye” but it affects both eyes depending on which one is working. I absolutely hate the way it looks in photos. I totally understand avoiding looking in the mirror. I had surgery when I was 14 to make it look normal but now at 45 I would need another surgery to fix it again. I often consider getting surgery to fix it, but it would be purely cosmetic and I don’t know if it’s worth the risk. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
c’est la vie!
It sure is life, my friend. I think you are beautiful in and out!! I’m sorry for the struggles that have been presented with your eye condition. I understand what you mean about having a surgery at 43. I have a situation with my teeth in which I’ve decided, it’s only cosmetic and given my situation, it’s not worth it to proceed in doing something about it. My friend, some with two good working eyes will never SEE the truth or beauty like you do. Your husband, family, and friends like me love you just the way you are! ❣️
THANK YOU for your kinds words! I knew you’d enjoy this article (and I knew your family would know her, too)! I’ve never considered myself a “chic” gal, but someone else said that too. I’ve been telling family it’s time to get new glasses after two and 1/2 years. For many years after LASIK glasses weren’t needed. c’est la vie! 🙂
The owner of the wig shop said it was good that I didn’t shave my head to the scalp as that will help the follicles (I think that was today’s word!). She estimated that the hair would grow out as normal, not something “new”, since I chose to just clip. It’s a longer buzz now with the hair growing out. I’ll be on this treatment for a year so there are about 4 areas where it won’t grow very well or the hair will just fall out anyway. My driver’s license came due on my birthday. I giggled. I’ll have this hairdo on my license until 2032! 😉 Sending love, hugs, and prayers! ❣️🙏🏻🤗
Haha, I love the scooter Karla, and the Finn attachment to help you along 🤣 It is great, and will definitely give you some independence back. 15 miles mightn’t seem like much but I reckon it would cover a big day out. And no doubt you were enjoying Laura Wilder’s ‘home’ so much more with the strength it left you with 🤗
And I can see the smile in your eyes for it, I have no doubt you’ll eventually score a 4 wheel drive version so you can go out into the woods and enjoy His space much more kind lady. Mmm, maybe the dolphin courier service can rent one of those for a visit 😂🐬❤️
Big hugs and much love coming over Karla, and glad for the hope and smile found with this change of events. And I can see your smile planning many more destinations now with that transport 🤗❤️
Oh, and the many reflections, you have His love in your smile too from them all, wherever you are. Take care and glad to see you out and about kind lady 🤗🥰🤣😎🐾🦓🎶🦋🕊️🐬❤️🙏
Thank you, dear Mark! I had a feeling you’d love Skeeter, the scooter! What’s funny (or not, I guess, lol) is I wear down before she does! I’m afraid my batteries, even seated, don’t last that long. It’s crazy. I’m bee-bopping around for about an hour or two and suddenly, I just have to…sit. Can hardly raise my arms for a while. A few hours later I can get back up and do a few more things. It’s a beautiful routine because I’m alive!
The 4-wheel heavy duty version that I love is called the Pride Baja Wrangler. It can get out on trails. Well, the all terrain version! It’s ONLY…$5K-6K LOL. Yikes! I really liked the less expensive versions of Pride scooters. However, they have to be broke down in 5 pieces to be able to haul. They have a foldable lightweight version that is TOO expensive as well.
I feel the love and hugs, dear friend! I hope you can feel Finley and I hugging back (a group hug! The dolphins can join us too!). I “see” your smile and the reflection of Christ in you. Please take care and thank you, as always, for your support.
PS–Our precious Ginger wrote me—they’ve had quite a summer of recovering, too. I’ll email her today!
😊💙🙏🏻🤗🎶❣️🥰🙏🏼🤗🐬🍦⛰️🥾🛵
Oh Karla, that’s great you’ve heard from Ginger, I was getting worried. I’d sent her an email but didn’t hear back. Mind you she was having hiccups with her computer I think. And poor Pam is going through some tough times too and haven’t heard from her (post wise), for a bit as she too is going through a rough patch. Hopefully this phase of testing is coming to a rest period for us all 🤗
We make a great group kind lady, maybe we can meet at the Skeeter races 🤣 But the prices of these things almost bring you to tears. You just want to move ‘anywhere’ but the body can do some amazing things that these little battery bits can’t 😂
I have no doubt after all you’ve been through kind lady is only giving you a few hours ‘strength’ reserves so you have to use them wisely. I go have a shower and have to sit or lay for 30 min to get over it. Frustrating but gives me a greater appreciation for those things I can do 🤗
And yes, you are alive and spreading that loving energy everywhere Karla. Your and Finn’s love gratefully received, thank you. You guys take care, lots of love, and looking forward to the next Skeeter races and trail riding 🛵🥾🤗🥰🤣🐾🦓🎶🦋🕊️🐬❤️🙏
Poor Pam and Ginger! They are enduring so much too, Mark. I’m so thankful for our group. My prayers will continue!
Skeeter races sound fun. There IS a limit on speed, however. Some of the BIG skeeters are SUPER expensive (oh my!). It’s crazy! They do have their limits. It’s not near as rewarding as walking and hiking—but beneficial, nevertheless!
It’s encouraging that you understand the “reserves”. I may do great for 2-3 hours, but I don’t wish to write about all the hours I’m on the couch, or in bed, at the dr’s, …lol. I’ll take each hour as a gift! I understand how a shower can wear you out! Tackling house chores is much harder now and may take me a long time. But that’s ok. I still have hope. Let’s keep spreading the love and energy to our family and friends! Finn and I will keep you posted on the next trails! No matter how they might look. YOU take care too, dear Mark! ❣️🤗🐾🥰💚🦓🛵🐬🤗🤗⛰️🥾
Will do Karla, thank you. You guys take care too, we have many a trail to wander yet to spread that love found. Big hugs 🤗🤣🛵🥾🐾🦓🎶🦋🕊️🐬❤️🙏
🥰❣️🤗❣️❣️🐾🥾🐕🌈🙏🏻
Love your beautiful thoughts Karla. Sending you prayers and love
Thank you, precious Sadje. I feel your prayers and love and send them to you, too!
Thank you so much 😊
It’s my blessing! 💚💚💚
💖💖💖
Karla, thank you for sharing all of your great photos. They were so interesting! Little House on the Prairie was one of my favorite TV shows when I was a child. That was when television shows were wholesome. (But I digress.)
I am praying for you, my friend. Keep letting your light shine! You are a blessing! May the Lord bless you and keep you each and every day! 🙏 🐾 💕
It’s my blessing, Cindy! It was my favorite show and it plays basically all the time at my house (seriously, I don’t know why I have any other channel?). Roku has it’s own Little House channel and so does my TV. Finley likes watching it when I’m gone, tee hee.
Thank you for your never-ending support and prayers, precious sister. You bless me too! I love you and Henry. May God continue to protect and guide you. Love, Finn and me 🐾🐾🤍🤗🙏🏻
💕
You Know….your smile is a reflection of Jesus’ joy in all the love and gifts you share! Yes, we are loved beyond measure! : ) If anyone can pull off no hair, You Can! Your writing and photos are amazingly touching and wonderful! Thanks for sharing and writing. GOOD NEWS: Wed. Peggy, my sister-in-law, had no fever, was able to be fed breakfast. Her vitals were good. That’s a blessing! I love you, Sue
Oh, Sue! I just read your other comment first to share I’ve been praying for Peggy and to read this made me yell Yee Haw! What a blessing! I pray it STAYS this way and God continues working miracles!
Thank you for your precious words about my writing and reflection. Do you know you have the same thing? Christ can’t help but ooze out of us because he has ALL OF US!
Also, the kinds words of no hair. I have some wigs (my sweet parents wanted to do that for me). With a hat, it looks like my hair, tee hee. AND I can even braid them. BUT, I know it’s not about my hair and I’ve embraced this new experience I’ve had. Like always, God always reminds me of what matters most! I love you, SUe! ❣️🤍🙏🏻
It feels a little vain saying this….but you’re so glittery and gem-like—in the best way–small diamond earring studs (or diamond-like gemstones) would look so beautiful on you. OK–I know it doesn’t matter…cuz your beauty is shining through without them! It was just a thought. I have a pair of diamond chip studs, if you’d like them. I’d send them. Let me know. : ) Love ya, Sue
Sue, I just love you and your precious heart. I’ve never thought of myself as glittery and gem-like! Wow! Can you see my little small diamond earring studs (of course not real diamonds?). You and Kristy think alike. I’ve never heard of diamond chip studs. I’ll have to text you as I’m curious what they look like. I’m praying for Peggy, Dave, and the entire family sister. Love you!
Others have said it but I wanted to say it too – you are beautiful. You have the perfect head. You are a compilation of God’s best work- inside and out! {{Hugs}}
Sweet Mama M, you should see my smile. You always encourage and lift me! How kind. You would’ve loved it when my twin used the clippers on my head. She said what you said (although I have a flat spot that I’m so happy I have–it looks just like my parents’ cute heads!).
You’re a precious and beautiful woman of God–in and out! I’ve missed you and look forward to being able to visit you too! Thank you for your support and sisterhood. ❣️🤍🙏🏻🤗
Praying for you every day. You are such an encouragement! 💜 I’ll repeat what has already been said. You are, indeed, a beautiful person.
I don’t take much stock in what I see in the mirror. But, if I think about it properly, I see someone in whom God just decided to, “out of the blue,” do some mighty miracles.
Thank you, dear friend. Your words are precious and kind!
I’ve missed reading yours–how are you and C (and S ) doing? Is everyone feeling the best possible?
Your last paragraph hit straight to the heart–This morning I smiled looking in the mirror–what a miracle I saw too! And I saw Jesus smile when we hugged! 🤍🤍🤍
We’re doing pretty well. C is having headaches, possibly stress related.
Praise for miracles! 💜💜💜
I’m sorry for C.!
I’ll join you in praise for miracles! ❣️❣️❣️
This is all wonderful!
Thank you, dear MAK. FInn and I love you 3 very much. You keep me inspired!❣️❣️❣️
Finn inspires ME!!! And Bear and Teddy with his zest for life!!! And you!!!! ❤️🐩🐾🐻❄️🐶
<3 <3 <3
Thank you, dear MB!!! ❣️❣️❣️
Karla, your smile shows the love of Jesus! You are beautiful my friend and I am so happy the scooter is giving you more independence! I am happy you had a wonderful day out. I know it was refreshing.
Love, hugs, and prayers always!🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Thank you, precious Pam! I’m so happy you see Jesus in me! It was a wonderful day out and much needed. Soon enough, cooler temps will help a bit. I’ll one day gain more strength and have more time out! I hope you both have had a wonderful week in your heavenly spot!
Love, hugs, and prayers to you always! 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🥰🥰
You have been the beautiful you here on the blog every post you make, my friend Karla!
Thank you, dear Mark! I appreciate your friendship and support, my friend!
Little sister I can totally imagine you running around with pigtails and perhaps getting into a bit of mischief as a child exploring the world.
Glad you could have an outing with your sister. Praying for you.
That’s so cute, brother! I didn’t wear pigtails as a little girl very often, but I remember one pic with pigtails. I adopted the look as I aged and camped! Mischief? Absolutely! We had a fun neighborhood and childhood of lifelong friends and shenanigans.
I was so happy to get out last Saturday.
Matt, I pray for you, dear brother. God bless you! 🙏🏼❤️
Oh my, what a dream to to visit Laura’s home! It was Pa’s fiddle that made me choke up a bit. You know what a big fan I am. Rose must have been a popular name back then, as Rose and my grandmother both share that name and same birth year. Karla, you look great! I love that scooter!! Sending you good vibes and much love. 😍
Oh, Jennie! I thought of you while I was there (and remembered your Grandma Rose!). I thought of you reading the books to your kids! Pa’s fiddle~ heartwarming and goosebumps!
Are you gearing up for another year, my friend? I won’t be teaching this first semester due to my health and treatment ~hopefully I will 2nd semester.
I’m sending love and hugs to you and Ms. Gloria! I’ve missed our conversations! Thank you for being so supportive and helpful! ♥️🩷❤️🥰🙏
Hi Karla, it’s so good to hear from you. Yes, I had a feeling you thought of me when you were in Laura’s house. 💕 Yes, I’m gearing up for another year. I’m glad you’re taking off the first semester, healing takes a long time. Thanks so much for all the love. Gloria sends you her best. She loves you and Zeb so much. I think she’s your biggest cheerleader and fan. 😍
Our hardest critics are always ourselves. Most of us just see a beautiful woman with a kind heart.
Thank you, Pete. You’re kind and thoughtful. I appreciate you!
love the scooter. That’s such a great question, what do we see in the mirror. Which filters are we using. Definitely a really good thing to reflect on. God bless you my friend ❤️
Hello, dear friend. I miss you and I’m sorry I’ve been MIA. Thank you for being here and supporting me. “Which filters are we using” ….very good thought indeed. I’m happy to be where I am now in seeing my reflection.
God bless you! Sending hugs, love, and prayers to you and Hawklad! ❣️❣️🙏🏻🥰🤗

AMEN! Thank you, Kristi! God bless you! ❣️
once again, I am late to the party in reading and commenting on your absolutely wonderful blog post. Sorry… I just usually put it aside until I have the concentrated time to sit and absorb everything you have written. You look great, even without hair. so glad to see that you are able to get out and do things like tour Laura Ingalls Wilder’s home with the help of Finn and your trusty scooter.
I don’t have to tell you to keep the faith, because somehow, through it all, you do. You’re a great example to all of us who sometimes feel that our burdens are too heavy to carry. Bless you, Karla.
Russell, no apologies necessary, my friend. I feel being late the party is how I live! But—you’re here and I’m here! I understand.
Life feels like a teeter-totter (sp?) at times. Whether I’m up or down, I know God has it. He’s patient with me, Russ. He understands how I have to FEEL it all, let it out,…I’m sure he smiles watching because he knows I’m looking at him the entire time I’m lamenting.
I’ve learned I don’t have to UNDERSTAND everything. That’s not faith. The last couple of days have been challenging. But isn’t that for all of us? We all have burdens to bear. When I have those moments, God is trying to tell me something so I have to be “quiet” a day or two, pray, and listen. You understand, I know!
Thank you for being such an encouragement to me over the years. And to you and Joan both for praying for me despite your own challenges and illnesses. I’ll keep praying for you both, too! God bless you!
Karla, the photos and quotes invite all of us to walk in the footsteps of this incredible author. Ingalls’ own reflections reveal much about own selves. God’s grace and peace walk ahead of us each and every day.
There are times I wish I lived during her childhood. I can only imagine how those hard times carved their characters. They seemed to have their priorities straight. Technology is a great thing, Richard. But I fear we’re missing out on the simplicity of life that God wishes for us to have. We were never made to KNOW this much. Yet, what Laura, her husband, daughter, and family knew is exactly what I’d what to know! Faith, family, hard work, and commitment to one another and community. May God’s peace and blessings be with you and yours. I appreciate you!
Blessings Karla. Thanks for sharing this invaluable viewpoint. There is something unimaginable to embrace from a lifestyle filled with greater simplicity.
