Then Came the Morning

Seven beautiful people were tragically killed in a plane crash on Friday afternoon: Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband, Jason, and daughter and son-in-law, Amber Nelon Kister and Nathan Kistler, Assistant Melodie Hodges, pilot Larry Haylie and his wife, Melissa. They were traveling to join the Gaither’s Alaskan Cruise.

Surviving daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman, and husband, Jamie thank people for their prayers and support for them, their soon-to-be-born baby boy, and Jason’s parents.https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna163931

May we all honor and remember their beautiful music (I’ve listened to them for many years).

In honoring this gifted family, we can pay tribute to those in our lives that have journeyed home~and those that remain in our immediate midst.

The brevity of life braces us for the brutal, breathless, breathtaking, and brilliant.

Do you know how loved you are?💚

One of my favorite songs ❤️

Find faith. 💛 Keep the faith.❤️

  3. Karla, I was so sad to read this over the weekend. Butch and I used to sing Then Came the Morning many years ago. At best, life is very short. We must be prepared!

    Love you, sweet lady ❤️🙏🏻

    1. Pam, I knew you’d be heartbroken, too. Your words are wise, dear friend. I can hear you and Butch singing this song 🎶
      I love you, too. 💛💕🙏🏻

    1. It is, my friend. In recent years, I’ve loved their covers of folk and Americana~such amazing talents and peaceful music~new music was announced to be released. I’ll continue listening and honoring.

  4. Oh Karla, this is such a terrible tragedy. I listened to these videos and they truly were a sound in the universe. It is such a profound loss…so many…but those hearts will not be forgotten because of that gift they shared. My prayers and heart goes out to their family and loved ones. And to you also kind lady in how it has touched you deeply also. Take care, my thoughts are with you ❤️🙏

    1. That’s so kind, Mark. I stand with all those who listened and appreciated their music and message. There’s so much loss in our world. This morning a dear blogging friend lost her daughter-in-law to cancer. Another blogging friend’s daughter is fighting for her life in the hospital. Life is happening all around us. I don’t share these things to be a “downer” …but to share that life is short and in it, loss, as well as love and beautiful things happen. If anything, it’s a reminder that we can’t take an hour for granted. Often we might be concerned of losing one member–and then, tragedies occur that take multiple–many–how do you cope and understand? Only by love can one fight back with faith and lean on the promise of restoration and eternal hope and life. It’s take belief and conviction. Then grit and determination. To walk it out is the hardest–and I’ve NEVER had to walk through what others have experienced in ways as this. I’m grateful to God to be here and to help pass this legacy of music on to others. 💖💓🎶🙏

      1. It is all spoken with the love that is you Karla. Your empathy and compassion speak truly to allow others to feel the beauty that is there, even though the pain. And yes, it is that power of love that fortifies us. It gives us the strength to go through some of life’s most terrible tragedies. And you are gifting that love that they were, in this sharing of the gift that was them all.

Big hugs kind lady, and my prayers to those that were so touched by this. And yes, it is a legacy of what love is ❤️🙏

    1. Dwight, I knew you’d appreciate their music and pray for this family. It reminds us how things change quickly. They have a legacy of music that many will continue to enjoy for years.

  5. It is such a tragedy. My heart breaks for poor Autumn. I can’t imagine her pain. The songs you posted have two of my favorites in them. Then Came the Morning, and Scars in Heaven! <3 Absolutely love those songs. We are sisters, girl! 🙂 Love you and hope you rested well over the weekend!!

    1. Thank you for sharing your heart, sister. My heart breaks for her, too.

It doesn’t surprise me those are two of your favorites. I love you, dear C and hope you are having a great week (and had a good weekend), too! Rest? I’m not for sure on that–I will find sleep somehow–or it will catch up with me? I’m blessed to be here and so happy you are too! 💓💖🤗💕🎶🙏🙏

  6. Oh, no, so tragic. Death is such a reminder that our presence here is terminated and we never know for what date. So, let’s enjoy our time as much as we can and give something to this that outlasts our bodies, like these people did. Or at least be the a good person which is all it needs. I never heard of the Nelons before. So thank you for sharing a few of their songs. They truly left a gift 💖

    1. Thank you for your precious presence, Erika. Your words are always filled with love, compassion, and wisdom. I’m going to try my best to do these things, sweet friend. Much love to you. 💓💖

I’m deeply saddened to hear about the tragic plane crash that took the lives of Kelly Nelson Clark, her family, and others. My heart goes out to Autumn Nelon Streetman, her family, and everyone affected by this loss. Their music has touched many lives, and their memory will be cherished. May we keep them in our thoughts and honor their legacy as we support their loved ones during this difficult time.

    1. Willie, you’re a precious soul. Your words sad it beautifully. What a loss for earth. My heart is with yours. Sending you and yours love and prayers always, my friend. ❣️🙏

  8. So sad, Karla. I didn’t know of them before, but praise God, they are known by our God and Savior and are safe now in His arms. Praying for the surviving family members.🙏🏽

  9. Heart-breaking. Such tragedies seem to make no sense. It’s at times like these I cling to scripture. One favorite: “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand” (John 13:7). I pray God’s comfort and strength for their family and friends.

  10. Oh, Karla, I had read about the plane crash and it just breaks my heart. Your post is succinct but so heartfelt and perfectly written. I can’t stop thinking about the families and everyone impacted … Then came the morning. Yes, I do remember that morning; oh, how I remember when when the world felt irrevocably changed (at least for me!). (I think this is a possible blog post for sure!) 🤍🤍

    1. Stacy, your heart knows, feels, and understands. Then came the morning. My friend, you are able to offer comfort in a way I wish didn’t exist. 🤍🤍🙏🏻

    1. Yes, Jeff. I thought the same thing, too. So many musicians ~constant traveling here and there and the risks of such tragedies. Life is filled with the unexpected ~there is only one way I know to be prepared for it. You know it, too,but it doesn’t make it easier.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  11. Devastating tragedy! I pray for all however especially Autumn who is left behind! Her sense of loss, pain and confusion must be overwhelming! 🙏🏼

  12. Tragic. A sad reminder to live each moment as though it is our last one. Condolences to the family and thank you for sharing. Hope you are feeling ok my beautiful sister in spirit.

  13. Karla; How tragic and heartbreaking! I cannot possibly imagine being on the receiving end of news like this. I pray right now that the surviving family members feel the loving, comforting arms of Jesus wrapped around them and hear him whisper, “Don’t despair. I have them now. Hold my hand and we will make it through this together.”

    1. Gary, you know well, my friend. I think of you so much and keep you both in my heart and prayers. You’re an inspiration to me. I’m thankful, just as you are. ❣️🤍💕🥰

  14. Thanks for sharing this lovely tribute so devastating.. life is fragile and precious and time is and illusion. My heart breaks open for them..all and what a gift that the 3 of them made it.. as hard as that is for her they will live on in the 3 of them, Karla.. Beautiful music 🎵

    1. You’re welcome, C. Last night I watched 1/2 the celebration of their lives on YouTube. When Autumn, the surviving daughter, got on stage to sing with The Isaacs there wasn’t a dry eye. I imagine the singing is going on in heaven just as it is here, C. I did a “rough” recording that I’ll share of one of their songs. Bridge Over Troubled Water moves me, too. I love you, C! Thank you for being here!

      1. Oh how lovely and heartfelt. I can imagine there wouldn’t be a dray eye. They would know deeply those words and I’m sure they are shaking things up in a great way💓
