Congratulations to TSgt Jarrod Snook, my oldest son, for receiving a Leadership Award at Eielson AFB in Alaska. His return to Alaska was a precious, perfect gift! To my youngest son, his wife, Jarrod’s wife, and my grands—know that our daily communication, although we are all apart, brings me great joy and pride. As we carry on, friends, to celebrate the end of another month and begin summer, may we all “stick” to what matters most! Friends, thank you for supporting Flannel with Faith, my journey, health, and family. As we complete this month, please know I’m holding you in my heart and prayers. Although I’m not able to answer texts or calls in a timely manner, your care and concern are appreciated more than you know! Faith, family, and friends—don’t lose hope. Sing a song, call a friend, and place all other things on silent. In this sweet silence, miracles can happen!

Have faith. You are loved. ❣️

I love and miss you, MAK. Thank you! 🩷
Congrats Jarrod!!!!!
Thank you, Jennifer! I love you! ❤️❤️❤️
congratulations to him! I hope this month has been great for you 🙂 Mike
Thank you, Mike! He and his family will appreciate your kindness!
It’s been a learning and growing month, Mike. I hope your month has been a good one too, my friend! God bless you! ☺️
“I’ll never live in dismay” — Amen! Praise God! You’re a mighty warrior in prayer and in faith, Karla. Congratulations to your son! God bless and keep you all.
Precious Dora, thank you my friend. Praise God, indeed!
Jarrod will be thankful–we appreciate you.
YOU are an example of that too, sister.
THank you for your kindness, my friend. You’re such an encouragement, Dora.
God bless you! Love and prayers, my friend. ❣️🙏🏻🩷

I want to add my congratulations to Jarrod for his achievement and also add my thanks for his service…and to thank his wife and children for their service….they just don’t wear uniforms!
Beautiful gallery of photos Karla. Wishing you a gentle slide into June, with each day finding you a bit stronger, a bit more pain free.
My love to you and sweet Miss Finley, and all your family. As always, gentle belly rubs for Fin and kisses on her cute nose.
Love, Ginger🦋🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻🦓🇺🇸
Ginger, it’s so wonderful to “see” you sweet friend.
I know that Jarrod will appreciate the congratulations. As will the family!
Brooke amazed me at how she handled the long months, WINTER, in Fairbanks, with two small children, the house, and no family around. I know that Veteran’s Day is the day to honor those serving now, but it was an opportune time to share his award, so thank you for sharing your kindness!
Finley is doing well with the move, Ginger. As long as I’m near her, she is fine. I just gave her belly rubs and a kiss on her nose. She is a happy girl after supper and going outside.
We love you! Please take care and know I’m praying and sending love!❣️🙏🏻🐾
Very nice thoughts, in this post. I hope you are resting up and getting your battery charge level higher.
I especially like your sentiments about freedom. I feel very grateful for those who died while fighting to preserve it. And congratulations to your son, for the great job he’s doing for our country. It’s people like him who are the true face of freedom, since they protect the freedoms we enjoy.
I like that way can say just about anything we want in our country, without fear of jail time. So what if some of it is inaccurate, crazy, or outright lies? The fact that we can say whatever we want, allows citizens to relax and genuinely connect with each other, across the nation. That’s why we can be a United States. It can also help to hold politicians accountable, but that’s secondary to our sense of connection, in my opinion.
Take care of yourself, Karla. I’m always pulling for you.
Thank you, Tippy. I hope you’re doing well, my friend. I’ve missed being here SO much. I’m taking care–one hour at a time.
All the changes are good ones. It was meant to be–divine timing.
I appreciate your thoughts on freedom. Jarrod will say that he doesn’t do much. On the other hand, he will share that there are things that he does no one will understand. I can only imagine what my two sons experienced in Boot Camp and how their lives shifted from the rural life they knew in Missouri. What I see now are two good men who have used those experiences to better themselves and their families. I’m happy for them. It’s not been easy with them gone all these years. And their families are raising children without the support I had–my hats are off to them. I wish I could help them more.
As a history and military person I often see those that served out and about. Although where I live now limits those I observe versus living near Branson. I always thank them if they’re wearing a hat or t-shirt that indicates their service.
I appreciate anyone who works, Tippy, to be or do better for themselves and/or their families. Also, I understand the challenges when some can’t.
The inaccurate, crazy, and downright lies. Yep. Thank goodness for the connection we can have. I can’t imagine living without these freedoms.
All of my “problems” seem very first world. How blessed are we? Yes, things can always be better. My issue is with the greed and hate. No matter where it originates. But I digress…
Thank you for always pulling for me, friend. I appreciate you! I look forward to getting back to giggles and learning–our connections here in this community are amazing for my health (and humor!).
You and your family please take care too!!
Hi Karla! My May has been busy and also full of Faith and Fun. I just returned from a geocaching vacation that was a blast (but I’m happy to be home). You are remembered in prayer – always. This June I’ll be at church daily and will be praying for you – for peace and love and clear vision. Big hugs to you and Finn!
Val–a geocaching trip! HOW FUN!
Thank you for your never-waiving prayers and support, my friend. Peace, love, and clear vision. Yes!
I’ve been singing, since Monday, “Open my Eyes, Lord”–I found this new singing Devo each morning delivered–just wow. It’s a spiritual punch and allows me to praise, pray, and pause. Even if slow, in pain, or tired…it’s a heavenly boost. I’m thankful for such resources–even moreso, for friends like you! Big hugs and love to you and Mochi! Give the prayer warriors a group hug too!
It is indeed a memorable May Karla, and fully appreciated for those that gave. Even, and especially, those that gave it all so that we can be free. We all don’t like the wars wherever they are, but if those that complain would now be slaves to a swastika or communism, I have no doubt they would appreciate what went before very quickly. Those types don’t care about freedom, we do 🤗🕊️❤️
And very glad to hear your voice, it was getting a bit quiet. I realise much has happened, and some goodies too. Congratulations to your son for his award. Take a bow kind sir. And the photo’s are great. Did I detect a trail? One with dirt and sunshine and flowers? Did you sneak out while nobody was looking? 🤗🥰😂🌟And an eclipse. How did you score that one? That is a classic, thank you for sharing that. Were you on the Artemis II?🤣🛵🥾🌟🐾🦓🦋🕊️❤️
You’ve been a busy young lady, you must be getting ready for many warm summer trails and a guided life by Jesus kind lady. Big hugs to you and Finley, lots of healing prayers and a Grace from God that you can do it all some more. Take care and don’t forget to charge the skeeter skooter for those nice warm days where you can score some wind in your face and the scent of many a flower blooming on those trails Karla 🤗🥰🤣😎🛵🥾🌟🐾🦓🎶🦢🦋🕊️🌊🐬🦭🐳❤️🙏
Mark, you MUST have been reading my mind, dear friend. As I type this I’m charging Skeeter’s batteries, as my own batteries are draining TOO fast, lol.
Thank you for always bringing a smile to my face. Also, your words always hit straight to the heart!
I will never take the freedom, from Christ, and where I live, for granted, Mark. I don’t have a clue as to how others live around the world in the situations they have–or even, those up the street that need. I saw a report about an event in my hometown, organized by 6 women who could care less about political parties and the nonsense that people get all worked up about–all they wanted to do was help the community. They went door to door. Collected donations and invited the needy. They were expecting 50 and over 200 showed up at the park. I cried Mark. I want to find this organization and help–even if just for an hour or by calling? anything!
People have helped me at my worst. When I saw that report I was humbled. Imagine the world if all we all helped one another? I’m proud of my community. I’m even more proud of my family for being such caring and giving people.
Don’t let all those pictures allow you to think I’m bustin moves daily, lol! Let’s just say those days are spread out and also, very limited in time.
When I was on the daily oral treatment I was up to walking daily–now, …well, I can see a huge difference. I’ve accepted it. I’ll do my best.
My “kids” are sending me pics of the fun times they’re having–one family headed to camp, the other boarding a train in Fairbanks with the other grandparents. I’m SO HAPPY for all of them, Mark. I’ve been blessed to travel a lot of trails. I’ll rest in Him and look forward to future ones. If there’s anything I’ve learned it’s that change is the only constant–and this cancer can quickly create changes depending on which “treatment” you pull out of the bag. Interestingly, I’ve had all of the treatments that are possible for this thus far. I feel the future is holding many more. Even better, I know WHO holds the future!
Are you in a season in which that hat is handy? It makes me smile thinking of you wearing it in the Down Under! THANK YOU, dear friend. Finley and I send hugs, prayers, and love (and dark chocolate before it gets too humid to melt on the trip!!).
Oh, I wasn’t on the space mission–I took that with my PHONE (funny!) from my new place where I have a better view of the open sky! 🦓🎶☺️🩷❣️🥰☀️🌅🌤️🌻🌞✨🌃 🥾🦋🐾🕊️☕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh, sorry, I forgot to ask. How has the move and settling in going? Great place, good people, chocolate handy? 🤣🏡🌟🐾🦓🕊️
Good trails nearby, puppy dog walking, and star gazing from your window too? 😂🌟🐾🦓❤️
And the movement from all your kids and family, has it got warm over there or something 🤣🌟 Winter blues let go, lots of vitamin D, and the urge to run (under 18’s and puppy dogs only) 😂🐾🦓🦋❤️
And that is a great community Karla. People who care to do those things gives a lift of the heart. The many have to be encouraged to share at that level and realise the gift of love within it. They don’t realise that by ‘hiding’ to not be hurt by others is attracting that very thing. Stand tall and be in it will attract that too. Just like the beauty and love you share kind lady, you opened your heart to Him and it flows out naturally 🤗🥰🤣🌟🎶🦋🕊️❤️🙏
And the hat has had an outing to the world to share the love. But I haven’t christened it yet by spilling coffee on it or blown off into the surf yet 🤣🌊🐳❤️🙏
Chocolate gratefully received…always. And lots of loving spiritual energy returned in kind. Ooh, I’ll have to give the dolphins your new address, I hope there is water nearby or I’ll have to give them taxi money 🤣😂🌊🐬🐳❤️
Take care my friend, lots of prayers, hugs and hope coming at you. Belly rubs for Finn too, I must share the love 😂❤️ Hang in there Karla, let the summer share its bliss as well 🤣🤗🥰🐾🦓🎶🕊️🐬❤️🙏
Yes to all of this!! lol 😂 truth!
Here’s to living a life of authenticity, awe, and amazement! 🙌🏻🥰💕
Karla, this post made me teary eyed, but so happy you got moved, had reunions, your son is back with his family in Alaska, helping your aging parents, and of course, the treatments. I love all the photos!
Congratulations to your son for his Leadership Award and a special thank you for your service, Jarrod!
You are always in my prayers, sweet Karla! Love you my friend ❤️🙏🏻🥰
Pam, I love you. Thank you for your constant support and prayers.
You and two other bloggers came to my heart while at the cemetaries. I prayed for you as I thought of your Daddy, his service….your sweet Mama.
Jarrod will be thankful for your congratulations–how kind.
I hold you in my heart and prayers, Pam. I love you all! 🙏🏻❣️🥰
I love hearing all about you and your life. It is such a beautiful story. I love your pictures. And please tell me who is in the cemetery. I did not know you were so Military. Your sons are quite the blessing as is their mother! Love you, forever and ever! 😁😘🤗😍🌹❤️🕊️🎶
Thank you, Mama Wenda. You’re a sweet soul.
Grandpa and Grandma Wilson are buried at Union Ridge. This is my Mom’s parents (I have pictures of her grandparents’ stones too). I noticed the flower covers us part of the “Wilson” name.
In the other cemetary are the Hale Family members. Several of them. This is my Dad’s family.
My grandpa’s brother, Harold, served in WWII. Dad’s brother, Gary, served in the Navy in between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. My two were the first in our family to join the Air Force. If you’d asked me 15 years ago if they would both be living away, having found amazing wives (my bonus daughters!), and building lives in many places, I would’ve hesitated. Yet, God’s plans and ways are much HIGHER and Greater than mine!
I love you forever and ever–I thought of you on Memorial Day and your precious Angel in heaven. Your faith inspires me. I wish everyone knew your contagious faith and joy. ❣️🙏🏻🩷🥰🎶🕊️
I can see them all gathering around the beautiful twin girls and spoiling them so happily. Such a blessed family. And it goes on. Now you get to spoil your grandkids so happily. It is so wonderful to see a family rooted in love and what is right. There is so much wrong in so many lives today. You are the exception. Your beautiful face inspires me every month. 😮💨🎶🕊️😘🤗😍❤️
♥️♥️🥹❤️🙏💕
Oh I love your post, Karla! Such a lovely May memorial post with memories, celebrations, honor, family, faith and all you walk with in acceptance as you move into this next phase of silence, treatment and healing. I’m soooo happy you had time with your son’s, wives and grandchildren. Congratulations to your oldest on this very huge honor! Your family is just adorable and just precious. Thank you for sharing them with us. It sounds like your parents are fairing well and no doubt Finn is at your side as your constant companion to see you through. I’m sending you so much love as you face another treatment and I personally will hold you in healing and miracles because if anyone deserves it, it’s you!!! I love you beyond words and through the ethers where you might feel it in your bones❣️
Cindy, I DO feel it in my bones–and it’s much needed! Thank you for your precious Spirit and support. I’m so happy you enjoyed this!
I wish the “kids” and grands were even closer. Most of my time with them is via technology! I’m praying to get back to Alaska by end of summer and I know I’ll have more time with my son and family in K.C. I can’t imagine not having the technology to keep us all close. I’m thankful for that! Although I’d much rather hug them in real time!
Finley is by my side. Literally. Sweet girl. She will be 9 in June and she’s a trooper!
My sweet parents are doing their best. Between all of our appointments our quality time is sharing them together–what a blessing!
You are so kind and loving, C. THANK YOU! You’re a gift to your family, friends, and this community! I love you! 🩷🥰❣️🙏🏻
A beautiful share
Thank you, sweet Sadje. 🩷

Your prayers and friendship mean so much. 🙏💕🥹 God bless you always. Give Henry our love too!♥️🙏 🐾 🇺🇸
Happy May Karla!
A huge congrats to your son and an even bigger Thank You to him and his family for his service to protect us all. 🇺🇸
May God bless you and keep you. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He lift His countenance upon you and give you Peace. 🙏
Thank you, sweet friend! His family will be so grateful for your kinds words–as am I. I’m so grateful for all who sacrifice.
I pray that God is blessing you and your precious family. Are you taking the summer off? Planning trips? I can imagine how much older they all are and how things are so busy and changing for all of you. You inspire me!
God bless you!! 🩷🙏🏻
Karla, this is such a beautiful post. I’m all smiles. I’m glad you talked about teaching children what Memorial Day means, because that’s exactly what I do. It’s so important. We gather around our Memory Garden at school, sing patriotic songs, and plant American flags. Most importantly, I’m so glad you son is back home after his tour in Japan. Hooray for the love of family, and God.
Sweet Jennie, thank you, precious friend. I’m so happy this made you smile!
I can hear you teaching the kids now! And all the activities are wonderful! I believe they will remember those the rest of their lives, Jennie.
It’s so wonderful knowing Jarrod is back in Alaska with his family. It gives me such peace!
Sending love and hugs precious friend. I hope you are using this summer to do amazing things for you!
You are so sweet, Karla. You always warm my heart. Always. I do hope the kids will remember all the activities. I think some of it will ‘stick’. Jarrod’s homecoming had to be the best gift for you! Yes, Peace. Much love to you, my friend. 💕
Always good to see you active online; will send you an email tonight Lord willing.
