Full Circle

Feeling over the moon I packed my bags again. Two weekend getaways in a row? How dare I think they’d only happen once in a blue moon. Shooting for the moon is a stellar goal! Two years ago I didn’t think I’d be howling at any moon, anytime soon.

Many moons ago a man walked our Earth his Father created. He was totally man, totally God. He hung the moon.

Saying “I love you to the moon and back” to family makes me think of the “over the moon” love that God has for US.

Once in a blue moon, I get disheartened. Then, love and logic lasso my heart and brain. To those who can no longer dream, promise, howl, or even love to the moon and back—I pray for you. You’re in my heart. I speak the name of the moon hanger over you.

Imagine Jesus saying, “I love you to the moon and back!” He means it! What he offers is more than the moon 🌙 What does he want? For us to love him to the moon and back with all our heart! Oh, and love others, too!

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

1 John 4:16

An antique desk invited me to…WRITE! Thank you Keith and Melinda for making me feel at “home”.

Tears flooded my face as we parked. Finn gave me a look—she KNEW. It was a full circle moment. Stone county was home for 15 years and this community, 11 years. This cottage will forever be home in my heart.

Karla’s Cottage, owned by my dear friends/former neighbors, is the perfect place to enjoy before another treatment. Peace and tranquility, combined with exceptionally unique decor, create a flawless faith-filled environment. Even with an achy back, low reserve, and other physical things you can’t “see”, I’m STILL on cloud nine. Dinner with friends, an upcoming good ol’ Ozarks’ shindig with bluegrass, gospel, comedy and more…laughter, love, friendship, music, …my heart is as full as the moon (without any fear of a total eclipse—let’s wait until April for that ;-).

I’ve come full circle. The road ahead will be bumpy at times. This cancer doesn’t “go away”. The bones are responding to treatment (some being stubborn) and a few pesky lymph nodes will need attention. I’m winning! A few days ago I walked my trail thinking of full circles, full moon, and the circular scan I’d soon experience for the upteenth time. “God, you not only created the planets, stars, light, darkness, oceans, animals, and us silly humans, you’ve offered us the moon. I want to lasso it for others.Thank you for bringing me full circle.” As Earth spins, some spin out of their own orbits. The miracles and magic of our world may not be felt or seen because of health, losses (loved ones, health, or finances), anxiety, depression, disease, or even imprisonment in an unbroken circle of criticism or crankiness. I’m blessed beyond the moon. I don’t know why I’m here still while others lose battles. My pain won’t be wasted. Not one second will be taken for granted. For no one is guaranteed another hour, day, or full moon.

Let’s shoot for the moon!

If you were told you only had one full moon left, what would bring you full circle? Do you know you are loved to the moon and back?

Have faith 💚

Do you see the craters?

“As I take man’s last step from the surface, back home for some time to come — but we believe not too long into the future — I’d like to just say what I believe history will record: that America’s challenge of today has forged man’s destiny of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus–Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind.”

  1. Wonderful news and glorious post Karla. I’m so happy for you to have your own homey space beneath this full moon. I hope it shines and fills you up to the brim with healing. ✨

    1. Thank you, dear Kate. XO 💛 it is~to think, we have the same 🌕

  2. I just discovered this post, Karla: I don’t know what happened but I’ve found it now 🙂 I often operate on low reserves too but a nana nap in the early afternoon helps. Jesus has been helpful for me too without me even asking. I think he must anticipate our prayers.

This is such a joyous , buoyant post, Karla and keeps us up to date. Yes, it is great to go home to a faith-filled environment. That’s why I enjoy Fellowship so much on Sundays and House Meeting on Tuesdays.

And those photos are wonderful and eerie — and I love them:) thanks for brightening my afternoon 🙂

    1. Hello, John. It’s always so great to “see” you. Because our time difference, you saw it “on time!” I was a night owl on this one, my friend.

Thank you for your support and kind words. I wanted to update everyone, too. Last weekend was a glorious weekend~the fun I had with my youngest son and family (but to respect privacy I won’t include pics~but I’m working on a post that will explain) was spectacular. Like you stated beautifully, Jesus has been helpful without asking. I love that! When we’re in such close communion he just knows! Wow! Yes!
Fellowship is an amazing thing. It can overwhelm me sometimes; but I know it’s needed! Then,…like your talk with the caterpillar, wings might appear.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos, too! A different “peak”. I was out early this morning looking again and took more pics last night.

Look at us winning, John! 🙏🏻💛

      1. we sure are, Karla; such a happy post 🙂

      2. Thank you!! 💛🤗

  3. F&A. To the mo

    1. Here we go!! I knew you’d love this one. I love you to the moon and back. 💛❤️🙏🏻 F and A

  4. A beautiful share Karla, it is good to touch somewhere home. That place full of lovely memories, encounters, and the odd stumble. It has love too when someone comes to help you up. Glad to hear of your forward steps though, they too have much love and light, that hope and faith for the future.

And if I only had one full moon left…I would blissfully spread every piece of love that I could to everyone and everything around me. Like walking in under the canopy of a forest and just opening to it…what comes in goes out, as we open to it all around. And smile, hug and truly appreciate what God has given me down here.

When I saw it, that understanding that He gave me, I could see purpose in it all. This journey, our pathways within it, ever guides us to His love within us. There isn’t a wrong step as it all teaches. Always that intent that we have inside us, that love and happiness we seek.

Big hugs kind lady, and lots of love as you heal. His arms will be around you too, as they always are 🤗🥰❤️🙏

    1. Dear Mark, anyone who knows you will not be shocked to know if you had one full moon left you’d spread love like glitter! “Like walking in under the canopy of a forest and just opening to it…what comes in goes out (oh yes!)” you described how I feel going into the woods, out in nature, and the world outside stick and brick surroundings.

“There isn’t a wrong step as it all teaches.” Again, you nail it! Life is lessons. Continuous. Beautiful, my friend.

I’m praying for you, sending that huge encompassing canopy of compassion and strength…and of course, love and hugs from Finn and I (and chocolate always!).

We’re rooting for you! 💕💛🙏🏻🙌🏻🌕🌕 under the same moon

      1. Thank you both kindly, blessings gratefully received Karla. Many moons for us to go with that empathy and compassion this journey shares with us my friend. All the best for your upcoming healing, arms around you and lots of love padding your heart Karla. Oh, and eating a chocolate or two. If you feel a little boost in the middle it will be a chocolate twirl or some such 🤣

Big hugs, and with you all the way 🤗🥰❤️🙏

  5. Ahh, your posts give me chicken skin, dear writer. They’re so profound and beautiful.

See, I’ve only been on this earth for 28 years but I know that our dear Lord in heaven has a purpose for our pain, for everything we go through. As you’ve mentioned the road ahead can be bumpy at times, we’re going to cry and not understand the plan He has for our lives.

But joy always comes in the morning with every new day He gifts us, every new sunrise, every new strand of hope.

I’d like to think that this pain is temporary and that God knows you’re making the best with what He gave you.

Keep up with the great faith, doing what your heart thinks is right, keep shining through your writing and what you love to do. Salvation will come 🤗🌱🧬

    1. Sweet Katherine Mary, you are wise and precious! Your writing gives me chicken skin, too (I love it that you use that expression, too!). Sometimes, when the Spirit hits, I call them God’s Goosebumps! Lol

There are people much older in years that still don’t know their purpose or even give thought to love, pain, understanding, etc…what an open heart and mind you have to see, feel, and share that with others! I hear the wisdom from God’s words and your heart~what a winning combo! As you, I know pain is temporary. Like Paul’s “thorn in his side”, it keeps me depending on Jesus~not man. For the longing we have, if anyone feels it, is not for this world~so I won’t keep trying to satisfy it with things that don’t!

      Faith~that’s the “filler”!
When you hit the bumps, I hope to be here for you, Katherine. You’ve got a community that loves you; even more, God does. Keep sharing, writing, loving, and learning. Remember who you are at this very moment. Don’t let the world harden you~we need you.
      💕❤️🙏🏻🌕💛

  6. What a perfect celebratory post at the same time a space craft just landed on the moon. Two weekends in a row….wow! Bless you, Karla.

    1. Thank you, Jennie! I shared about you to my daughter-in-law in Texas, my friend. Each day I wonder what magic mixed with love is Ms. Jennie teaching? It’s “over the moon” for sure! I’m taking advantage of some open opportunities. Oh, Jennie~I got to read to a DHH group of sweethearts at a nearby elementary school. You were with me in spirit. Bless you! 💛❤️

      1. That’s so nice, Karla! Thank you!! I bet you loved reading to the children – lucky you! 😍

      2. It filled my heart, Jennie! I was so fortunate! Have a blessed week- I appreciate you so much! 🤗💕

      3. 😍

  7. A wonderful post of hope and healing Karla. So glad you are getting stronger each day. Looks like a perfect get away. Praying you will continue to heal and overcome!

    1. Aw, Jeff,…Sara and Vern asked about you last night! Without God, I wouldn’t be here! Thank you for such a precious comment and prayers ❤️ I know how blessed you are too! God is good.💛🙏🏻

  9. Karla, every night when Henry and I go out right before we go to bed, I love to gaze at the moon and stars. The night sky is magnificent! But now I will also be reminded of your words when I gaze at the moon! What a wonderful post! God bless you today, my friend! 💕🐾🙏

    1. Cindy, that’s precious! I can see you and Henry now. The winter sunsets have been glorious ~our skies so magnificent (wonderful word, Cindy!).
God bless you both! Thank you 💛🙏🏻🌕🐾

  10. What a wonderful, hopeful, joyous post! And what amazing friends you have to provide that awesome space for you. I pray that the moon shines healing light on you there as you rest and receive treatment. Your full heart is a real testament for all of us. Blessings!

    1. Russell, that’s so kind and thoughtful! You “get” it! It flows from you too!
This weekend gift is healing in so many ways! Friend, did you get my comment on your post about the balcony? Great words! I was only able to read about 20-30 total this week~I enjoyed it!
Many blessings to you all! Thank you for your support and prayers.

  11. Yay! I’m so glad you’ve had two great weekends in a row. God is so good and He answers prayer! You asked what would be a “full circle” moment for us … I am going to think about that. Thank you for the interesting fodder for ponder. 🤔. Your pics of the moon are fantastic. The moon can be a difficult model. You’ve captured her gloriously!

    1. Thank you precious, Mama. The answered prayers make my faith more solid~it’s crazy unbreakable~through everything, HE remains and restores~in a gentle, loving, and over-the-moon way! You know!!
I’ve missed your love notes. It’s hasn’t been easy balancing my “good” hours with everything I NEED and want to do~when I make time to read, it seems after an hour or two, I get a headache (with writing at times too). I bet this happens to many of us! I look forward to reading them again.

Thank you for your love, sweet support, kind words, and prayers. ❤️💕🙏🏻🫶🏻🌕

  12. Everything about this post is beautiful and hopeful. Thank you, my friend. 🌕

    1. That’s so kind, Kelley. It’s my blessing; it warms my heart that it gives hope! Thank you for your support and friendship. Love, Karla 💕

  13. I am OVER THE MOON for you that you are in your happy place for some R & R and obvi stellar writing. I LOVE your acrostic poem. Enjoy every minute with Finn as you savor each moment, hike, morsal, friend and word of love that oozes out of you and here’s to the call of the wind to those who call our name and lead us in troubled times. Love you dear Karla! ❣️❤️❣️🙏🏼

    1. Thank you, Cindy! I knew you’d love this! I love you to the moon and back! The poem was written by a lady who stayed at Karla’s Cottage with her two daughters–I need to put that in the post! Thank you for that reminder–when I saw it on the refrigerator (with so many OTHER notes) I had to take a pic! My twin and I left notes about how much we loved our stay there. It was a full-circle moment and I know more are bound to come around –tee hee! I love you! Have a marvelous and blessed week! 💚💕❤️💛🙏🤗 I appreciate your love and support so much!

  14. Amen, Karla! Grace & Gratitude you share over & over! It’s a gift!🥰🙏✝️ I love you! Thank you, friend! -Sue

  15. Two glorious weekends in a row….you are on a roll Karla! Praying there are endless glorious weekends, and weeks, and months, and years in your future.

None of us know what life is going to bring us. Sometimes it’s a wonderful surprise. Sometimes we feel crushed by the burden of it. Fortunately for the rest of us, we have YOU as a role model…..If Karla can get through her ordeal, then I can get through mine. You keep a lot of heads above water my friend.

Your photos of the moon are awesome. You must feel like you’re walking on the moon right now.

Good luck with your next treatment. Sweet Miss Finley will be there to keep you company and help you heal.

This is a very uplifting and hopeful post Karla. Nicer weather is on its way, so hopefully you are able to get out more often and enjoy the nature that you love so much.

I know you’re anxious to get this show on the road, but I hope you take ample time between treatments and adventures to rest and recuperate.

Sending healing hugs and prayers to you and your family, and of course Sweet Miss Finley! Praying too that your medical team stays on their toes and keeps their eyes on the ball/goal. Your powerful faith will sustain you.

    1. Ginger, your words say it all. They always fill my soul with happiness (and I also nod my heart and head a TON at your wisdom). Gosh, Ginger, I hope to live as many years as you and be as wise.
I wasn’t a role model for anyone at one point–but it died when HE was nailed on a cross for you and me. It just brings me tears.

And to be used to encourage others? That’s MY blessing and I don’t take it lightly, my friend. There was a time I didn’t think I was going to make it. Well, several times. This MINUTE is a miracle.

I’ll heed your advice–I’m preparing for a big week, a treatment day, a time to mentor others and learn from others, too. I’ll rest and allow my body to heal even more. I’ll head to Maryland soon for a follow-up. I’ve got a good team around me, my friend. You included.

Finn and I feel the love and prayers. Faith will always be my foundation. There is no other way for me, my friend.

Much love, hugs, and prayers! I appreciate you! 💚💕❤️🤗🙏

  16. I’m so glad you’re responding to the treatment! And even happier that you’re finding joy in the journey!

    1. Thank you, Ann! I appreciate you so much! I hope and pray you are both finding joy, too. Are any trips scheduled soon? Prayers and blessings!

      1. Yes, we’re hoping to go to Sanibel for a few days in early May!

  17. a wonderfulnderful use of the moon Karla. Glad you made it back to the cottage. You are blessed to have so many friends on your journey. You have already secured a win. Great post.

    1. Gary, words adequately can’t share my gratitude–for God’s miracles, his world, and the “gifts” I’ve received. I’m blessed beyond measure. Prayers and blessings always. Thank you for your support–in so many ways!

  18. What an inspiration you continue to be, Karla dear. Great photos and sentiments…. you instill much gratitude in me for things not to be taken for granted. Beacoups demerits on my card for any complaints this week. Have a rewarding one. Love and blessings + Mary

    1. Mary, how sweet to say. Aw, my heart. I can’t help but live grateful! I’m living in miraculous moments–it’s magical, surreal, and makes me a real nuisance for those who don’t like happy people, lol. Love and blessings to you, Mary. I appreciate you!!

  19. Karla, what an encouraging and beautiful post my dear friend. I see another dear friend’s, (Mary) comment above mine. Yesterday was our 51st anniversary and I haven’t been on my IPad so I didn’t know you had posted. Karla’s Cottage is so special and the response of visitors must be so rewarding. I know I would love it. The moon photos are beautiful, my friend. I am so happy you were able to read to a class. God is so good and faithful! I love you and you remain in our prayers❤️🙏🏻🎶🥰

    1. Happy Monday, Pam. Happy Anniversary to you both! I just visited your place to see the extraordinary pictures and events. Wow. I’m sorry there are still issues with comments (I left one to say I enjoyed the family tree the best :-), but they were all magnificent–Butch’s moon capture–and that beautiful cold sunrise!
I feel your love and prayers–and I love you, too. I’m so happy you were encouraged by this post. Thank you for your support and precious comment. The words needed to “spill” out of me. The little house is so perfect, Pam. God’s timing ALWAYS works out. I don’t doubt at all anymore, Pam. Not one bit. I don’t have fear. It’s so freeing. All because I’ve experienced miracles. You and Butch would’ve loved the Cabin Fever concert at the church. It was filled with bluegrass, laughter, and even a surprise visit from our Governor. My heart and soul are filled with joy–even if my body is tired, lol. I hope you are having the amazing weather we are experiencing here. I’ll have to get out soon and get my dose of nature! I will say a prayer again for you, Butch, your Dad, and all the WP friends here as I walk. Love, Karla 🎶❤️💕💚🙏🤗🌕

      1. Karla, Cabin Fever concert sounds really wonderful! Yes, Butch and I would have loved it. It is 76 degrees here today, quite breezy, but it is a gorgeous day. Your comment on our blog did go through. Sending love and hugs, dear friend 💛🩷💚💜🌺💐🌼🌷

      2. Oh, yay! I’m so happy to hear that! I’ll try and upload some of the music to YouTube and write a post similar to what I did a couple of years ago.
It’s beautiful here and now, feeling a bit caught up, I’ll take Finn for a walk and get out in nature a bit. We love you!!!💕💛❤️🐾🙏🙏

  20. I am over the moon with joy for you Karla. I love you and I am so pleased that your body has responded to beautifully to the treatments. You are getting stronger and stronger, not wasting a minute, and offering your enormous heart to the world. Oh my, God is good, all the time…Much love and hugs, C

    1. Oh, C! I love you and appreciate your warm hug and love so much. Your life inspires me–I hope you know that. God is good all the time! I’m playing “catch up” and it’s all good. My reserves might be lower, there’s some “pain” at times–but my heart and spirit are strong. I hope you have an amazing week! Is it full of adventures? I’ll be thinking of you and your sis,…coffee time like I had with my twin this weekend when she joined me….and of course, enjoy whatever Larry has in store for you! LOL! 💕🤗💛❤️🙏

  21. Best news! I hope you have a wonderful retreat. And when I think of the circle I realize that it is never ending. A comforting thought.

    1. Thank you, dear friend. It’s never ending–how beautiful! I appreciate you so much!

  23. I’m finally coming around, myself. ❤️ So happy to hear this good report, dear friend. And thank you for the inspirational reminder. ❤️ Love you.

    1. My heart is so happy to hear this, sweet Laura. We went into our cocoons together– and look at us, wings spreading, flying together. Thank you for your precious love and support. I love you, too! 💕🙏🤗🦋

      1. ❤️

      2. My ex-husband has cancer. I’m his caregiver.

      3. Oh, Laura. I’m going to have quiet prayer about this. I’m sorry to hear of his cancer. You are an amazing, grace-filled, and beautiful human. I love you 💕 🙏🏻🫶🏻

      4. Can you add my sister to your prayers, my sister in strength? Been in ICU with her since Friday. I’m starting to break.

      5. Yes, my sweet sister. I’m praying now. I’m so sorry to hear this. I’m flying out to Maryland in a couple of hours for my follow up~you have my prayers and I’m sending love. You have my email? I’m so sorry.

  24. Two weekends in a row—family, friends, time to talk with God, read to kids, and write. Now that’s a full circle! Our cells, even the stubborn, pesky ones, absorb all that good stuff. And that’s my prayer, Karla, that the good stuff keeps winning and that life keeps blessing. Sending loads of love! ❤️♥️❣️

    1. Look at us, Crystal! You are so kind and encouraging—thank you! I think being here, with survivors and powerful people such as you, is giving me even more “life!” We are “feeding” on the great goodness of God, camaraderie with Christ and one another, giggles, empathetic experiences, and joined joy! Love is keeping us here and let’s keep feeding our cells the good stuff indeed! Thank you for all you do for me, Crystal. I accept the love and give the same love to you-to the moon and back! 💛

      1. ✨🌕✨

  25. Oh Karla, you are winning! In life and our hearts. Thank you for sharing yours. 💖 Your posts are abundantly rich in beauty and gratitude, an extension of you. 🙏🏻🌹🕊️🤗

    1. MIchele, that is so sweet and thoughtful. I am winning! When people ask me how I’m doing that is my response! Yay! I’m thankful for every second, my friend. Your words about my posts touch my heart. That is exactly what I hope them to convey. How precious of you to write. Much love, my friend. 💕

      1. 💕🙏🏻🌹

  26. I’m to the moon and beyond for the loveliness of the cottage and the joy of your successes, Karla!

  27. You teach us continuously, Karla, by words and example, how to savor life–and the Lifegiver. May you know untold blessings, and too many full moons and weekend getaways to count, dear friend!

    1. Mitch, you are such an encouragement and inspiration! Your precious words, prayers, and support mean so much! Thank you! 💛🙏🏻

  28. I am glad you could enjoy a getaway and enjoy some time with Jesus little sister

    1. Thank you, brother! I’m so thankful I could go! God is good all the time. There’s no denying that,…ever!

  29. Shooting for the moon with you and for you, Karla. May you know our Lord Jesus’s presence with you as surely as the moon shining above though you can’t always “see” it. You know it’s there. You know He’s there. Every step you take. Blessings and love to you, sister. Press on!

    1. How beautiful, Dora! Thank you so much! I feel his shining light always! May you feel it too, my friend.💛

    2. Love and prayers to you, Dora! 💕🙏🏻

  30. Enthusiasm for the Lord is contagious. Karla, His grace flows through every thought, and I feel my own cup runneth over. Lord, continue to bring goodness to Karla’s needs. May every full moon remind her of such divine and almighty glory.

    1. Richard, this comment blessed my heart. I feel my cup running over too, my friend. Your prayers and support mean so much to me. HE has never failed. HE never will! This morning at church I learned of the word, “Hineni” (Here I Am) in Hebrew. I’m learning to say, Hineni and yes, before I ever know HIS question. I trust HIM so much, Richard. I don’t know how people get through life without faith! God bless you and thank you!

  31. A beautiful post, Karla. And I am so happy for you that you had this magical full-circle moment. I can feel how precious it was to you in your thoughts & in your words. God is so gracious with the memories He draws close to our hearts when we need them most. Hugs to you for this reflective time you’ve been given and always remember….I love you more! Full circle hugs sent to wrap around you!

    1. I love YOU more! Tee hee. Thank you, Dawn. I feel the FULL CIRCLE hugs and love. Oh, sister. So much has happened in the last two years. I sit in awe. At church this morning, I just cried over the miracles that have happened. God is SO good–and guess what? YOU ARE TOO! Thank you for your love and unwavering support.

  32. I am here for moment, looking dear ones posts. I blogged today, reading your posts I am not understanding why I can’t find acceptance with the fact I have no breasts. I have all the faith in God, and trust him with all my heart. Yet I can’t look at myself in the mirror with just a scar across my chest resembling nothing that even comes close to what I was born with. I need to find acceptance in this, it’s my lot in life. I can’t change it. Why can’t I accept it. I just keep praying for God to grant me this. Anyways I am going go, I feel I might cry. I did blog, and am changing the direction of blog as to try to have that outlet in my life again. Blessed friend I know not your journey! I am praying for you!
    Lisa 🙏🏻🦋☀️🥰

    1. Dear Lisa, my heart breaks for you, sweet sister. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through.

I often thought of you throughout my journey. Before I was ever diagnosed, you were, and still are, an inspiration to me.

What I do know is that God loves you and I do, too. Faith is easier “typed” than done. My has been tested through losses–letting go’s–the career, relationships, my health, money at times…I felt I “lost” it all. But still, I have my breasts, I have the BRCA 1 mutation, and thought that was what I was going to be dealing with at first. Lisa, I can’t begin to imagine how you feel. I had a situation that happened today that made me want to go back into “hiding”. Getting myself “out there” again is risky. “Oh you look so good!” “You have cancer?” But you have hair. You don’t look sick. I think the reason we struggle with acceptance is because we’re human. We’re utterly human. Acceptance is hard.
God understands, Lisa. How can we be gentle with ourselves when we live in a “not-so-gentle” world? If you were with me I’d just hug you and let you cry on my shoulder. I’m praying for you, dear friend. Now, I know even more specifically how to pray for you.
It’s so good to see your preciousness here again. Sending love and prayers, Lisa. Thank you for being here and sharing your heart. You have a community here that will join me in prayers, love, and support for you. 🤗❣️💚🙏
