Fall Forecast

Faith, family, fall…and Finley, of course! My favorite season will begin soon. Each season brings its own challenges–and miracles! Why not live expecting them? When asked what I’d do in the fall of 2019 I replied with this:

I think I’ll do this again each fall I’m given.

Have faith 💛

My patio gave me love💚

To what greater inspiration and counsel can we turn than to the imperishable truth to be found in this treasure house, the Bible?

Have you heard of NET, Yet?https://www.thehealingnet.org/

Radiation begins this Thursday (bones only-internal radiation, P.R.R.T., will be given at the end of the month). I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as my excellent team of doctors and caregivers move forward with new treatments. I’ve provided links on my website for anyone interested in this rare cancer. I’m happy to report I have a new friend on WP that is also a NET patient. There are about 40 others across the country that are part of a message board I’m on. For any illness or disease support is crucial. Let’s look past the “looks” and know that we all have struggles. If it’s hurting your rally or resolve, upsetting your day, or causing any issues in your life then it’s a challenge–big or small. No matter the “size” of the condition, know this: you are loved and YOU MATTER!

Success! You're on the list.

Karla, I love your fall forecast for 2019! And I love that you are here in 2022 to live out that fall forecast again. Thursday is a most important day for you. Radiation treatments that will help you to live your life as fully and happily as you can.

These treatments will likely take some of the “zippety” out of your “doodah”, but your faith and sweet Finley and loving caregivers and your team of medical professionals will be there to assist you on this new journey to living your life while you continue to help others to live theirs.

You are a hero to many of us. Your positive attitude is so refreshing in the murky world of cancer. I’m sending my prayers and positive thoughts your way. You are loved and admired and you most certainly matter.

Listen Karla, it ain’t over until the Fat Lady sings, and I have my foot in her mouth! Ginger

    1. Ginger, you had my eyes watering with tears and then with laughter. 💕 I’m trying SO hard to stay positive! I’ll try my best to keep my “doodah” in tact as much as possible! 🥰😘 if I’m absent here some you’ll know my zippety zipped. I feel the love and prayers, Ginger. Sending them your way too! 💛🥰

  2. Karla; I will be praying HARD for you as you begin this next phase of the journey. You clearly know this already, but I will remind you that God is holding you tenderly in his hands whispering, “I’ve got you. No need to worry.” Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share the details of your battle with your “public.” I am not sure I can explain WHY it is true, I just know it is: more prayer is better.

    Blessings; – Russell B.

    1. Russell, more prayer is appreciated. I believe 💯 the way you do. And the visual imagery warms my heart when I HEAR HIM say, “Don’t worry.” He means it! And I know you mean it when you pray! Thank you so much. 🙏🏻

  3. My heart is coming for a ride with you Karla, with God’s love most definitely bound within as well. An embrace as each moment goes by to a new future. He is always there, especially in the harder times. He told me once ‘I am the giver of life’, so I let go and finally understood what faith truly was. And you have shown me this also with your journey. Thank you. Big hugs dear lady, may it all go well 😀❤️🙏🏽

  4. I’m very happy to hear that you’ve made contact with others facing the same struggle — that matters so much as I learned in another lifetime when my right hip went south. Not being alone with struggles and decisions, having other humans with whom to share fears and doubts, others who have direct experience is so very helpful both psychically and physically. It’s a way to know, “Ah, this is OK. This is what happens to people when they undergo this treatment.” Doctors can be amazing humans, but they’re not the ones having the in treatment. God holds us in his hands, but He’s not the one having the treatment, feeling the apprehension, or feeling the side effects. Thankfully, He has given us other people — and dogs. ❤️🐾🐾🐾 Much love to you and Finn from Bear, Teddy and me.

  6. Little River Band, ahhhh! Such fond memories of their melodies. 🎶 Your words are just as sweet and manage to strum my heartstrings in ways so meaningful. I know it’s because of the love behind them and I applaud your bravery, your determination, your commitment; but mostly your unchanged heart. Rest assured of my continued prayers, there is not a day you are without them. And sincere hugs to you for sharing your journey with us, Karla. I am sure none of us wish you to go through this alone and I am grateful for you that you have been blessed to connect with others who understand far greater the pathway you are now traversing. There is no doubt you have extended your helpful hand to all those in this new community you find yourself thrust into, and I know they will be richly blessed by your presence. 😘

  8. I’m so glad you found a group of others who are coping with the same kind of cancer! I know all support and prayers are a good thing, but being connected to those who are dealing with exactly the same thing is a very good thing. No one can pass on helpful tips quite like someone who has already walked down the path you are on. Meanwhile, know I’m still praying!!!

  9. Karla, you have grasped the secret to a happy life. You understand that it will challenge you and hit you with its best punches but you never let the circumstances change how you react. You understand that most of our time here is filled with love and joy. You live and spread love everyday no matter what the day brings you. You will always be an example and inspiration to me. Every day is different and we just have to “Win the Day.” I send you my love and prayers. 🤗❤️🙏

    1. “Win the day”! Scott, you affirmed everything I aim to do in my life. 😭 I’ve learned that in EVERY circumstance God WILL display his works~its surrendering to it and not to what the “world” might believe or do. It’s truly the freedom we’re supposed to know and enjoy. You probably noticed I’m no longer on IG. I truly believe letting “go” of any such things as social media (I’ve been off of FB for many years and will never look back lol) has only assisted my attitude in “winning” every day. I don’t see circumstances as “bad”,…I used to say, in my career, they “sharpen my skills” 😜. If not for the circumstances of my life I would not handle humanity the way in which I can. Like you said, and from your wonderful and challenging piece of life, it’s truly all about love and joy. Thank you for inspiring me too, Chief! Sending you love and prayers. May you all keep “winning”! 💛🙏🏻🤗

  12. Fall arrived right on schedule overnight as a cold front extinguished the fading embers of summer. High yesterday at 85, today at 65. Keeping you as well as your support people in my prayers. Where there is one in need, an army of prayer warriors intercedes.

I’m dreaming of those 70’s and low humidity {and hoping they’ll linger a while}. Blessings to you and yours!

    1. Thank you, Dwight! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I’m being prayerful about the treatments. However, admittedly, they are hard on me. I’m having some side effects from the internal radiation. I had an outpatient procedure last week that would numb nerves going to pancreas and other organs. It’s lasted 4 days. I’m not for sure what to think. I rest as I need and stay active as I can, but it’s challenging. The community is having a benefit for me this weekend. It’s surreal and humbling 🥹🥲. I’m hopeful after that things will settle down as I have a break between things and let my body build back up. Your prayers and well wishes are so appreciated! Blessings to you both!
