In honor of Missouri’s Bicentenniel here is a “sneak peak” at the beautiful illustrations in Faith and Finley Tour Missouri! Thank you Gage Becker for making our home state picture book come to life.
Missouri became the 24th state on August 10, 1821. Have you ever visited the “Show-Me” state?
Check out these famous Missourians!
- Laura Ingalls Wilder
- George Washington Carver
- Mark Twain
- Maya Angelou
- Harry S. Truman
- Ginger Rogers
- Chuck Berry
- Walter Cronkite
- Thomas Hart Benton
- Sheryl Crow
- Eminem
- John Goodman
- Ellie Kemper
- Jon Hamm
- Kathleen Turner
Winston Churchill delivered his famous, “Iron Curtain” speech at Westminster College in Fulton, MO. Pretty cool, eh? The Show-Me state is also “unofficially” known as the Cave State. Did you know there are over 6,000 of them? The Pony Express, Lewis and Clark museum, Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Gateway Arch National Park, great food, music, and kind folks–these are varied highlights in my book for the Missouri fans!
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities with 91 state parks and 6 National parks (to stamp off in your National Park Passport book). Lakes, rivers, streams, and trails splatter our state! There are so many places in my home state that I still need to visit.🤍
Don’t just fly over Missouri. Come and stay a while (let me know if you visit the Branson area). Visiting other states is a joy to me; particularly mountainous regions (with low humidity ;-). But I’ll always be proud to call Missouri home. 🤍
I heard this announced on Sirius XM 60s on 6 radio this AM. I love the St. Louis area and hope to visit Branson, the Ozarks, and the Mark Twain National forest in the future with my family.

In Feb 2020, which now seems like eons ago, i was flying from philadelphia to san francisco on work and had a stopover at St. Louis. The entire city was covered by a patina of snow. Always a rare sight in most parts of India, so as we landed and took off, i was fascinated to see an entire city turned to white. Next time, made a note to find my way to Branson 🙂

That’s awesome, Ananda! Your flight was right before the pandemic began. What changes since then! St. Louis is a great city. Branson is a tourist area and family destination spot. You’ll have to Google it , lol. Your family would love it too. 🙂

You forgot one super awesome Missourian…my Daddy!! Perryville, MO.
I can’t get enough Mark Twain. He always makes me chuckle.

Hurray! And happy belated birthday, Missouri. As a 45 year resident of the state (some of which was spent on the Kansas side of the MO/KAN state line, admittedly), I appreciate the unique and appealing properties of the Show Me state. I will admit, however, that I never did cotton to that state nickname. I always thought, “Well you know, not everything that is true can be SHOWN!” But still…

How wonderful, Russell! I know yet ANOTHER famous Missourian! “Never did cotton to that name…are we family? 😊 “Not everything that is true can be shown!” I have two Russell quotes to use now!

What a wonderful state Missouri is! We consider ourselves honorary Missourians since we only live 10 miles from the state line!

Some of our best trips were in Missouri. We did a Harley trip down the Mississippi & stopped at the locks watching the barges go thru then on down and across on rte. 66! Then on to Branson. We also have gone across Bull Shoals with the Harley on the ferry to Arkansas. Jamesport is a wonderful Amish community worth a visit. Then there’s riding mules at Eminence which is totally beautiful! So much to see & do and then there’s camping & visiting you dear friend! Miss you!💝💖🍵☕💙💕

I miss you too, Vicki! It is a beautiful state. In the craziness of this world, I thank God for my little slice of heaven. And for faith. All the places you mentioned are some of my favorites. I spent nearly 15 years traveling to Eminence, even when boys were small, to float and watch trail rides. The Jacks Fork and Current are two of my favorite rivers. We are so blessed here aren’t we? I miss you too and look forward to your future visit! Hugs and love! 💚💚💛💙🙏🏻🤗🌲🌱🌿✨

When I think of Missouri, I see the gateway to the West. Montana’s history is richer because of the travels and exploration of Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery. It all began in Missouri.

Richard, I agree 💯! I’ve been feeling disconnected by not being on WordPress. I have a new grandgirl, born one week ago in Alaska. I’m looking forward to traveling to see she and her brother soon. My children’s book about MO is uploaded and officially “published”. I have a poetry piece and a two page spread on Lewis and Clark. I once wanted to open a wing of the school, call it Discovery of Education in Nature (we were the wolves; it would’ve been the “Wolves D.E.N.). I believed I could teach every subject through the expedition of Lewis and Clark! I’m a big obsessed by the Corps of Discovery. Thank you for your comments and support!

I had the privilege of visiting your fine state a while back as we discovered some second cousins who call Missouri home. We had such a lovely time exploring St. Louis, staying on their ranch outside of Jefferson City, and driving through the state. The rich history really pulls me in and makes me want to learn more. Here’s to the Gateway to the West, love and hugs, C

Aww, that’s awesome C! Remember that I’m the long lost cousin from Missouri? Here in the SW part I’m pretty sure I’m a cousin to many! I do love my home state and it’s rich history. I’m so excited I’ll be holding my first children’s book in my hand this Thursday~all about Missouri. But not NEAR as excited as holding my new granddaughter, and her brother, in Alaska soon! I’m so glad you had a great time in the “Show-Me” state! Love and hugs back! ❤️ Karla

Karla, a huge congratulations on your children’s book! I forgot to add that. Where can I buy a few copies? OUR second cousins will want one and so will my grandkids! You did it, so proud of you, love, C

Thank you, C! ❤️I’m so excited! I’m doing a bulk order for some book signings coming up~it will be digitally printed and the process will take about 4 weeks. I COULD go ahead and upload to Amazon and Ingram, but am waiting for sample copy to be in my hands in two days. I’d love to sign copies for you! You’ll be able to buy straight from here as well (I’ll be able to accept Venmo, Apple or Google pay, PayPal, or any major credit card). Thank you, C! I’ll be posting later this week on all this information. Your support means so much!

I spent a few summers at Kamp Kanakomo right outside of Branson and inside a few of the 6000 caves.

That’s awesome, Crystal! I wonder if it’s the same camp they now call Kanukuk? It’s one of the most popular Christ-driven camps in our area. And I’d happily join you on some spelunking! Have a blessed holiday and thank you for your comments! 💛

Yes, that’s it. They call the girls’ side of it Kanakomo, and I did spelunk on my belly at times. ❤️
