Make a Long Story Short…

Or make a short story shorter. This week I may have bitten off more than I could chew. I’ve missed the boat on a few things, and yet, as we know, no pain, no gain. At times I felt I was on a wild goose chase. Yet, by the skin of my teeth, I made it.

For those of you that might be under the weather, I’m sorry. Tomorrow in SW MO it’s going to rain cats and dogs. Typically I like saving for a rainy day, but I know not to to put all my eggs in one basket.

It’s not rocket science, but I’ve gone back to the drawing board a few times. I try to hang in there and stay on the ball until it’s time to hit the sack. There really is a method to this madness. Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind. Even if you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

I’m so glad I jumped on the bandwagon of writing again. I could let the sleeping dog lie, but this really is like riding a bicycle. My head might be in the clouds-but I see a beautiful horizon. And I’m able to weather the storm through thick and thin.

I’m going to keep making hay while the sun shines and leave no stone unturned. I know you can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs, but remember you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Let’s just spill the beans. Don’t take a raincheck. And take it with a grain of salt. We all live and learn and it’s not a piece of cake. Many times ignorance is bliss. But we know every cloud has a silver lining and good things come to those who wait. For me, slow and steady will win the race.

Have faith 💚

My dream has been to author children’s books. And this week I accomplished a huge step with my first one (with hope to be a series of many). There’s still a lot to accomplish; but my vision is 20/20. I’m thankful for all I’m learning and it’s a wonderful journey. My grandkids are my inspiration (they just don’t know it yet ;-).❣

I have to thank my fantastic coach (Lisa Jochim) http://americangirlinholland.blogspot.com/)https://www.blueberrypancakepublishing.com/ for helping me propel my passion. I understand why authors seclude themselves😏 . Seclusion is NOT loneliness if it’s something you choose and desire. There’s magic made in the quiet. My soul is strengthening. I’m gaining on goals and the fog of fear has lifted. Friends, stay true to you. Never give up. Have faith. I cherish you all. ❣

  1. Many congrats to you on writing your book! As a fellow author I know how much goes into it 🙂 Best of luck on the series and the journey from here ❤ (Also, some of those quotes are my FAVORITES – especially the Alice In Wonderland one)

  2. I read your post a few hours ago, Karla, and I wanted to come back to it. Your quotes extra hit home today. And a great deal of wisdom in your words. “There’s magic made in the quiet. My soul is strengthening….”. I just returned home from a long evening walk in the dark. A new thing for me to increase my kilometres each day. The extra benefit is the peace and quiet. I can tell you are speaking/writing from the heart. You are a writer, Karla, whether you are writing or not. I look forward to seeing where your passion will lead you.❤️

  5. oh this is wonderful: to use all those cliches so creatively; I’ve written a poem like this: if I can find it, I will post it with due attribution to your post, of course; and, so to the core of this comment: how have I NOT been following you??? the book is an interesting development; I’m sure you’ll keep us posted 🙂

    1. Thank you so much my friend. It’s a children’s book series; a creative non-fiction series. Which I’m beginning to think is as hard as the memoir/devotion type book that I wish to publish! I appreciate your support so much! Blessings to you too.

  6. I had a good hearty chuckle all the way through this post. So much goodness and light crammed into such a small space.

Bravo on taking those steps and following the path God is seeing in front of you. Sometimes the way will be dark and we will have to wait for Him to light the direction forward. But there’s nothing to stop us working hard while we are waiting for that light! ☀

It’s been a long journey getting maybe halfway to publishing a novel, but I’m enjoying every step of the process. Words like that you’ve written here inspire me to keep going, and to encourage others to follow the fire inside their hearts!

Peace to you, and I pray your joyous journey continues as you walk it with courage and with God. ♥

    1. Thank you, Hamish. I appreciate your thoughts and comments. How kind! My mind is contemplating other ideas in writing; it’s the inspiration I receive from all my friends here on WP to which I can give credit. “Sometimes the way will be dark and we will have to wait for Him to light the direction forward. But there’s nothing to stop us working hard while we wait for that light.” I wrote these words in my journal. They are impactful. I’ve been studying about the “small steps” we take towards achieving our God-provided orders. He never promised things would be easy. Nor does he want us to stop dead-in-our-tracks of faith when we don’t feel warm and fuzzy. You just keep on going with bits of iron that can sharpen your own iron and give it the best you have~and give HIM the glory~and you win ❤️🙏🏻
